Monday Will’s team won their first two games in Florida …both in exciting fashion.
Down 4-2 entering the next to last inning, Crown scored six unanswered runs to beat Hendersonville NC. The Knights only managed four hits, and Will had one of them: a double.
Will played flawless defense at shortstop and third, throwing out three runners at first (plus two more in the second game).
In the nightcap Crown trailed Temple Texas going into the bottom of the sixth, 1-0. Crown had only managed two hits, and the Temple pitcher had retired 10 of the last 11 batters. After allowing one 2-out run in the first, Will pitched three straight scoreless innings…keeping Crown in the game.
Leading off the sixth, Will walked on a full count and stole second. Nathan singled, but Will was held up at third. Braeden and Adam struck out, but Casey walked to load the bases. Little Franklin ’s single to right scored Will with the tying run and Nathan with the go-ahead run.
MVP Watch: Like Will, Braeden also pitched three scoreless innings. Will put the ball in play all six times, but the big first baseman was 0-6 for the day. He wore the collar in game two, striking out all 3 times. Braeden did steal two bases, but got tagged at third on a ground ball to the pitcher.
