When Auburn fans try to compare Bo Jackson to other great SEC running backs, Bo’s numbers fall far short. While he was an exciting player who broke off several long runs, fact is there are several other far more productive SEC backs.
As a collegian Bo cannot be compared to Herschel. In fact a better comparison is Todd Gurley. Both he and Bo were slowed by injuries. Still, Gurley was almost as productive though Bo played in 50% more games. Gurley averaged 35 more combined yards per game than Jackson.

198.2 14 Fournette
159.4 33 Herschel
120.7 19 Nick Chubb
120.7 38 Darren McFadden
120.7 38 Darren McFadden
109.5 30 Todd Gurley
095.6 45 Bo Jackson
090.8 37 Derrick Henry
While Fournette has the highest average rushing yards per game number, he is still far behind Herschel’s record pace, even in the first two years of their college careers. In both rushing numbers and SEC Championships the LSU star will be unable to match Walker’s lofty numbers. Also doubtful Fournette can match Herschel's NFL and professional totals.
