Paul Casey was on track to tie the course record on Sunday. One reason why: he played with Augusta National club champion Jeff Knox on Saturday. Casey admitted learning a lot from Knox on the round.
On Saturday Knox was the only player to birdie the 11th hole. On the practice tee Tiger Woods observed that Knox "has played the last eight weekends at Augusta." How many others have done that?
Casey carded a 69 on Saturday, but after the round was mostly asked questions about Knox. The Augusta National member from Thomson once shot a 61 from the member's tees. Everyone is not familiar with Knox's exploits.
On Sunday Knox played with former masters champion Vijay Singh. Knox must've done something right, as the dour Singh was reported to be smiling on the first tee. In the past Knox has played with Bubba Watson, and unofficially beat Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy. Last month Rory traveled to Augusta specifically to play Augusta National with Knox.
Not everyone likes Verne Lundquist, but it was nice to near him calling the action on the 16th hole.
Interesting 2016 interview with an Augusta National course marshal, though it's not all that revealing.
This week even Uni Watch got in on the Masters beat.
As eventual winner Patrick Reed finished his round, his wife Justine looked on, wearing a pink cap from Hawaii that matched her vest. In her hands she clutched a white Masters cap, which she put on when she went down to the green. After hugging Patrick she turned to hug Reed's caddie, who was busy retrieving the flag from the 18th pin.
Ceil liked Rory's shoes. He wore these azalea-clad kicks earlier in the week.
Bubba Watson played Sunday's round in pink hightops. I like his low-cuts the best.
