My Princess Diary

The weekend: can’t remember Friday except the drive home. Watched The Princess Diaries. Originally Princess Mia lived with her eclectic artist mother in a converted San Francisco fire station. Reminded me of the old Disney move “Herbie, the Love Bug” where Dean Jones fixed up the old VW Beetle in an old San Francisco fire station. I did some checking but they were two different fire stations. How an eclectic artist could afford a $2.6 million fire station only happens in princess movies.

Saturday morning C and M went down to the Freedom Parkway farmer’s market. I had a thousand emails to go through so I knocked in them out in chunks throughout the day. Made a late breakfast of scrambled egg quesadelas. Did laundry and lots of other little things that needed to be done. Got a lot more cleaned out in the garage. Filled up my car with giveaway things.

For a late lunch Ceil had warmed up a meatless spaghetti sauce, I was dipping chips into the sauce, but when the chips got too small I dumped the rest into a bowl and covered it with the sauce. Watched some of the PGA and deleted more emails. Mowed the back yard and blew the driveway. Ceil sanded the front door and did the grocery shopping.

Made it to Ruby Tuesday after 8 pm. I had a coupon for a free birthday burger, otherwise we would’ve gone somewhere else. We were late. Two TV’s had the Braves game on, to others were showing the UGA/Alabama national championship game (Bama won). Ceil got the salad bar and a baked potato, and a glass of wine. The waitress talked we into the free birthday burger, plus the salad bar for two bucks more. The burger had everything one it: bacon, cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, mayo (bleh), and ketchup. Too much, but it was good.

With all the little extras, for what we paid we could’ve gone to someplace nicer. The salad bar was huge: four kinds of lettuce. I got a tossed salad plus a little potato salad plus a little macaroni salad. Got home around 9:30 and plopped on the couch. I started feeling sick, but it seemed like it was too quick for the Ruby Tuesday food to have made me sick. Might’ve been my spaghetti sauce.

JFBC Sunday morning. Sunday School was the sendoff for two young couples headed overseas. They were also commissioned in the services. Good sermon by Bryant. After church we had a Sunday School pot luck lunch. Didn’t get home until 2:30. Watched the final round of the PGA. Tiger shot 64 with a missed putt, lipout, and several poor drives. But the others also had their share of bad shots: Brooks Koepca, Adam Scott, and Justin Thomas.

Grilled cheese for supper. Also BBQ chips. Watched the Princess Diaries 2, which ends with Mia’s coronation as queen. A similar ending as the first Star Wars movie Episode IV: A New Hope.

On further review, I guess I exaggerated about thousands of emails. It was over one thousand but don’t think it was over 1,100 yet. And at dinner tonight I deleted the hundred that came in today. Those are the junk emails I get from restaurants, stores, jewelers, sports teams, tv networks trying to sell me stuff. When I enter contests, whoever is putting on the contest puts everyone who enters on their email distribution list, so now I get over a hundred emails a day. I have a special email address that I use, but I have to check it in case I ever win. When I get going good I can delete about 50 emails a minute.

I get very few personal emails. By the end of the day at work I will have gone through 200 emails on a busy day, but that includes replies and emails I am copied on. So far today since 7 am I have deleted 44 emails. I try to keep junk emails and work email separate.

Work email: I like to get important personal emails (like yours) in my work email because that’s the one I check the most, even on weekends. My goal is to keep my work email in box clean. Last week I had it down to six emails. Right now there are 12 emails there.

Yahoo: junk emails and contests

Gmail: personal emails. Starting to get too much junk in there.
