On Hate Week

(Written the week of the GT/UGA game) Tech fans call the week before the game with UGA “Hate Week.” In Athens after facing SEC rivals South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn, Bulldog fans hardly get excited about facing Tech. Sure, the Jackets have won the last two games in Athens. But how can a Tech fan in his right mind think the 7-4 Jackets, who couldn’t beat Duke, Pitt, or South Florida (much less Clemson), can beat 10-1 #5 ranked Georgia?

One thing that gets me about the game is looking back at old GT/GA photos. UGA looks the same: red helmet and jersey, silver britches. Tech looks different every year. Usually a white jersey but sometimes gold or navy or back. Sometimes a white helmet or white pants. Jersey number font keeps changing. Number colored gold or navy or black. Which team looks better?

Prediction: look for Tech to wear white helmets and navy pants (I was wrong). Look for Tech to lose (I was right).

I’ve about had it with “institutions of higher learning” who are indoctrinating America’s young people with required class after required class teaching liberal agendas. Then the complete opposite at football games. Tech cheerleaders lead cheers about sex, the band plays songs from beer commercials, and the good word is “to hell with Georgia.”  I’ve seen thirtysomething suburban housewives at games angrily screaming these words. Then after games in Athens, Tech players plunder the Sanford Stadium hedges. What does any of this have to do with winning football games? NOTHING. Sorry, I choose to not associate with such behavior.

Tuesday: left work shortly after five. Looked at one car right down the street. Salesman said I couldn’t drive it, that it needed repairs. Drove up 400 to McFarland Road and test drove another one. Wasn’t the best. Looking at more tonight.

Got home at 7:45. Watched The Voice and The Kids are Alright. Then a show about the South on the SEC Network, featuring small restaurants in Athens and Nashville.

I didn’t feel the earthquake. Neither did Barney or Ceil. Lots of people on social media did. Sign of the end times.

Wednesday we had our Christmas lunch. Supposed to wear ugly sweaters. I did, and a few others (above: with team members Rachel (L) and Angie (center). So I was wearing my ugly sweater and red sneakers when I went out car shopping after work.

My customer just placed an order for a truckload of parts every day next week, plus three days after Christmas.  Quite unusual.

Anna came home, and went to work at Madewell (above). Ceil and Matthew brought home a Christmas tree. My Christmas Cards shipped, so I’d better get stamps and write my Christmas letter.

Thursday: after my meeting ended downtown in the Georgia Pacific building (below) I drove straight to Conyers to look at a car. When I was finished there was a wreck on the interstate so it took some time to get back.

Those egg burgers are great but once you start eating them the bun seems to fall apart. Hey if you like Applebees, when you’re up in Cumming you’ll have to try Red Robin. It’s one exit south of the Applebees on the eastern side of 400. Similar to Applebees with similar selections.

Friday AM: several emergencies going on.

Saturday: BIG NEWS. Stay tuned for a full report, perhaps on Monday.
