Valentines Day

Busy busy busy. Busy at work on Friday. Didn’t leave until 545. Then I stopped by the shop to finish cleaning out M’s car. Then I had to stop and get some Valentines goodies for C. She didn’t want flowers but I got a card, balloon, candy, and a back scratcher. Got home at like 730 pm.

C had fixed a special supper and set it up on our new dining room table. Will had provided steaks, and made some special butter (below). Also baked potato and tossed salad and chocolate cake and cookies from a popular bakery in Kirkwood. Just as we were sitting down to dinner I realized someone was contacting my about buying our old dining room table. They lived nearby and wanted to pick it up just then.

Then the door opened and in walked Matthew – a surprise visit. He brought professionally prepared desserts from Kimball House (below). A $16.00 item. Each. We had a nice visit, He was picking stuff up, so after our main course we went out to the garage. The young couple came and picked up the table and chairs, which cleared out a little space in the garage.

After M left we watched a Bollywood movie filmed in London and Pakistan called “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” It was okay, but I had to fight not going to sleep.

Saturday morning I drove to Roswell to sell M’s car. Buyer was an hour late. Then home to do housework and shop for a car for M. At 5 pm we drove downtown to babysit Shivonne & Millie, which was a fun time. Put them to bed then fell asleep myself. Didn’t get home until almost 1130.

I skipped church to shop for a car. Found a nice one down in McDonough. Seller said to meet him at 2 pm, so I fought traffic and arrived at 1:45. Saw the car and went up to the guy next to it. He said he had just bought the car. Man the lowlifes you have to deal with, trying to buy a car. Wasted trip. What I get for skipping church.

Drove home and looked some more. Realized that two cars I was interested in were being sold at the same dealer, way up off McFarland Road. Drove up and was able to test drive both (above & below). Neither were super good. Drove 140 miles in total. Back home and pretty much camped out in “my” office until almost 10 pm, looking for cars and also doing some work. Ugh.

Up early this morning to hit the gym. Ceil is sick.

Reading “Just Tyrus”, the memoir by the comedian / political commentator / WWE wrestler / pro football player / former bodyguard for Snoop.

Insides sales is hiring. The IQ team is hiring. The fab team is hiring. Soon I will be relegated to the tiny desk at the far end of the office – kinda like the guy with the red stapler in Office Space. My team lost a team member during Covid, billed a record $50 million in 2022, doubled our workload on SAP, shipped just as many line items in 2024, and are still shorthanded. Every day is a constant race from one thing to another. If I stop to take a breath (or take time to review something in detail, you know, like try and do MY JOB), I fall further behind. I am too old for this crap.

I used to be a big Tom Hanks fan. Not any more. To go on national TV wearing a MAGA cap like he did, unafraid to alienate half of the people who watch his movies. Not that I was spending any money on movie tickets. Why I didn’t watch the SNL50 show, or Saturday Night Live in general. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Could post a picture, but why go to the trouble.
