On my commute to work I almost always listen to books on tape. But earlier this week on the way home I decided to listen to the theme song from the 1979 Muppet Movie: “Rainbow Connection” sung by Kermit the Frog. May be just weird enough that I want it sung at my funeral.
The always reliable AI reports: "The Rainbow Connection" lyrics explore the connection between dreams and reality. The song plays on the idea of seeking a "rainbow" – a symbol often associated with hope and something unattainable, a powerful motivator for dreamers. Even if rainbows and other illusions aren't real in a literal sense, they inspire and drive people towards their goals.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
All of us under its spell, we know that it's probably magic....
Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
Today is the anniversary of the "Second Spitter" day. I reminded my friend Rodney.A few years ago the Brooklyn Cyclones gave away a Second Spitter Roger McDowell bobblehead - one of their annual Seinfeld bobbleheads.
I am getting to the age where I’m trying just a little to not buy more sneakers and caps and jerseys and clothes. Got too many already. Not sure if they’re fashionable at all, but I’m wearing my Vans Ultrarange sneakers. Vans keeps making these Ultraranges better looking and with more cushioning. Not really a running shoe, just a good all around sneaker. Waterproof. Should I get blue, or another black shoe?
