The guys on 680 were talking about how hard it will be for Tech to make the College Football Playoff, even expanded to twelve teams, due to their ACC schedule. If they make it to that Georgia game undefeated, then lose to the Dawgs and lose the ACC Championship Game, the Jackets probably won’t make the final twelve. Pretty much the only way they make the playoff is to beat Miami in the championship game. The #2 ranked Hurricanes also have a soft schedule, and could arrive in Charlotte on December 6 undefeated and ranked first or second – a formidable opponent for Tech. If the Jackets have two losses, even to two top ten teams, I doubt they make the dance. I hope I am wrong.
As Brent Key would say, I just hope Tech wins this Saturday. Not gonna be easy for Tech to beat the Hokies, Duke, Syracuse, NC State, Boston College, and Pitt – much less Georgia and Miami.
Tech’s helmets this Saturday will feature a Buzz sticker instead of the classic GT. Great idea – except the sticker is shiny gold and hard to see. Even in the promotional photos its hard to make out the Buzz. Good idea – poor execution. Let’s hope the team executes better.
Tech went to great pains to eliminate navy and black from their uniforms, so they could just be white and gold. But Saturday they’re wearing navy facemasks and the dark grey pants. Drives me crazy, all the mixing and matching.
If I had a blog or Twitter about Tech, I’d name it As The Jackets Turn.

Thursday: left work at 5 pm and stopped by Kroger. Ceil cooked burgers and fries for the girlies. Anna brought over Goose to play. Millie wanted to play with my three nesting dolls: Andruw Jones, Bob Uecker, and Alex Rodriquez. We played and read books and put them to bed. Lots of cleanup. Slept on the couch with Goose and Winnie. Winnie had been a bad girl, sneaking into the kitchen to snatch a hamburger patty.
This morning Shivonne went outside with me to walk Winnie. Will had gotten in around 2 am. He’s taking them down to school this morning.
Denison on the every-increasing addictiveness of social media. My addiction is the Twitter. Instagram doesn’t really hold my attention, and I quit posting on the Facebook – much to Drew Kelly’s chagrin. I figure that’s already too much social media, so I am staying away from the TikTok and the SnapChat. Ceil spends more time on her phone than me. My plan is to cut back on my phone use even more when I retire.
ALBERT PUJOLS [SABR Bio] has hit home runs off the most different pitchers – 458. He is the only player to collect a hit in four consecutive World Series innings. In G3 of the 2011 Series, Pujols led off the 4th with a single, led off the 5th with a single, then homered in both the 6th and 7th.Texas Ranger pitchers Matt Harrison, Scott Feldman, Alexi Ogando, and Mike Gonzalez were his victims. Pujols has won more Fielding Bible Awards than any other player at first base, in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, & 2011. The Fielding Bible Awards honor the best defensive player at each position.
