Neckties

Neckties are pretty much optional these days, even at weddings and funerals. But when I wear a sportscoat without a tie I look fat, so I wear the tie to hide my belly. And I still look for cool neckties at thrift stores. Recently bought a cool tie with Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets logos on it. Now I have ties for: GT, Clemson, Falcons, Braves, and Hawks. Saw a Vince Dooley era UGA tie once that was stained, so I didn’t buy it. Should have bought it and gotten it cleaned. Still have the necktie from a SPdL Chapel Choir Tour from the early 1980’s – over 40 years old.

We stopped wearing ties to work everyday years ago, I think back in the summer of 1999. But one of my older coworkers Terry G would still wear a tie one day a week, just out of nostalgia. From time to time I consider wearing a tie to work, but never do. I am finally to the point where if anyone compliments me on my tie, that I should offer to give it to them on the spot. But I am really attached to my Vineyard Vines Braves tie. The one tie I’d really like to have is a green tie with Masters logos on it. Super expensive, even on eBay. What I am always looking for at thrift stores. I need an orange tie for my upcoming football team reunion, though it’s supposed to be casual dress. A cool tie would have the Orange Bowl logo on it, but I have yet to track one down.

All the Tech fans who are all butthurt over Tech’s ranking need to face the facts: don’t lose to NC State. Plus the playoff committee knows full well that Tech only beat Wake Forest due to an official’s blown call. No other top 20 team has a worse strength of schedule. But if Tech beats BC and Pitt, then wins the ACC Championship game, they’re in the playoff. Lose, and they don’t deserve it.

Travis Hunter seems like a good kid, but you never know. Already hurt. He married some “celebrity” in a super expensive wedding. Some thought she would be a negative influence. Hope he works out for the Jaguars. Not sure picking a receiver #1 overall (or anywhere in the first round) is a wise pick for a franchise down on its luck. QB Trevor Lawrence has engineers three 4th quarter comebacks this year, but lost a heartbreaker this past Sunday to the Texans. Looks like the 2025 Heisman race is coming down to QB’s from Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech. The UGA QB has an outside shot, along with a few others.

Quiet Tuesday evening. C stirred up a chicken and spinach dish, over rice. Very good. Lunch today at Cheeseburger Bobbys, to get the free burger.

JOSH HAMILTON [B-R Bio] is the most recent Texas Ranger to be named American League MVP in 2010. He posted personal bests that year in that led the majors that season: WAR 8.7, BA .359, SLG .633 & OPS 1.044. He was an AL All Star from 2008-2012. Watch here as he set a Home Run Derby record of 28 HR in the 1st round of the 2008 contest in Yankee Stadium. His longest traveled an estimated 518 feet.

Denison: the Telegraph, a British media outlet, published showed that the BBC doctored a Trump speech to make him appear to encourage the Capitol Hill riot on January 6. The version the BBC aired quoted Trump: “We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore”. However, the first sentence was spoken 15 minutes into the speech, while the second sentence came 54 minutes later. The BBC edited out what Trump said following the first sentence: “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

ME: another reason why it’s so hard to believe anything you see or hear on TV or the internet these days.
