Will’s teams both won home games Saturday. We got a decent amount of rain Friday night, but the field was in reasonably good shape. In the morning game Will played shortstop the entire game, but only saw two balls. In the second our rightfielder Christian fielded a base hit and fired to cutoff man Will, who turned and threw to Joey, playing his first inning at third base all year. The throw beat the running to third, and Joey applied the tag for the out.
In the fourth inning third-baseman Andrew was having a tough time tracking a pop fly, so Will stepped in to make the catch. Later a pitch bounced away from catcher David, and the runner seemed to have an easy extra base, and didn’t slide. David threw to Will at second, and Will’s only chance for the out was to slap a tag on the runner as quickly as possible. Had he held on to the ball, they would’ve had the out.
At the plate Will reached all three times, on a hit and two walks. He scored twice and knocked in Corey with his hit. In the first Will walked on four pitches, and raced to third on Andrew’s hit. He then scored on a wild pitch.
In the third Will singled home Corey, and stole second base. He scored from second on Andrew’s single. Will walked again with two out in the fourth, then stole second, but Andrew grounded out to end the inning.
