As you can tell, a thousand or more runners will finish the race every minute. That’s 250 people every 15 seconds, or 50 people every three seconds – 16 every second. Now you know why it’s a problem for runners to stop and take pictures after crossing the finish line.

 

Fun fact: Will, Anna, and I all finished within eleven minutes of each other.

The Peachtree Road Race sends out a magazine every year in the packet with the race number. This year the magazine had an article about how churches along the route participate in the race. The preists across the street at St. Phillips blessing runners with sprinkles of holy water. How SPdL hands out water – with a photo of the SPdL volunteers, including Dock and Melissa, Sharon Lim, and Edie – in the yellow shoes.

Unlike some Peachtree veterans, I know exactly how many Peachtrees I’ve run, thanks to my scrapbook calendars and spreadsheets that log what time I ran each year, who I ran with, and what outfit I wore. I was in the 86 and 87 Peachtrees, then every Peachtree since 1990. That’s 32 total and 30 in a row. Most of this info is on my blog. Perhaps I’ll post it later this month. I know, I am a nerd. Heck, who else takes the time to look up all these results and photos every year – and record them?

Will has run every Peachtree since 2004, a total of sixteen. Pretty good to run 16 Peachtrees before turning 26. That may be a record. Anna has a streak of two going, and Ceil ran with me in 2003. Any questions?
