Goose Visits

Thursday night Anna came over to dinner. Goose came as well. Caleb out of town on a golf trip to Fripp Island. Ceil cooked steak tips, pasta, and baked some vegetables.

Friday: slept late. Skipped the gym. Cleaned up a little Arrived early for our 1130 reservation at Houstons. Ceil had a cobb salad with grilled chicken and cheese toast. I skipped the burger and ordered the crispy chicken sandwich instead. Like the Houstons burger, it was dressed up high with bread and lettuce and tomatoes and fixins. Good but not great.

Had plenty of time to get C to the airport. She took a phone call and things got crazy. Saw a sign that a wreck had blocked 4 lanes, so I took 20 west instead. But I was in the right lane and the 285 south exit was on the left. So I had to continue west to the next exit, then head back east in the bumper to bumper traffic. Then 285 south to Camp Creek – a slow go.

I took 285 back home to avoid the crowded downtown connector. On the way I checked and by hairdresser Denise was getting off at three, so I drove straight to Great Clips. Later I went out to donate at Goodwill. Almost bought a pair of Steph Curry Under Armour sneakers, but passed.

Hot dogs and coffee ice cream for dinner. At Kroger I’d bought the dogs, buns, relish, mustard, and ice cream for $7.50. I am a cheap date. Tonight I watched some of the news, last weeks Austin Peay vs UGA game, some of the new John Grisham The Rainmaker series, Only Murders in the Building, and Me Before You.

Teed off this morning around 640 am. First time using Uncle Lennie’s clubs. I think they are an improvement. Took my time and hit a lot of balls. Sunrise was not memorable.

1. Flub, then a decent 7 iron off the tee. Second shot was two worm burners. Approach was a worm burner that rolled up the hill onto the green about 4 feet from the hole. Hit a second approach shot that sailed over the green. Too much club. “Par”.

2. Passible tee shot. Mulligan was a flub. Two of three chips were okay. Good lag putts. “Bogey”.

3. Almost lost a lightup ball in the bushes. Mulligan was better. Three chips were just okay. Sank a long “par” putt.

4. Pulled two tee shots into the left rough. Four okay chips. Four good lag putts. Bogey.

5. Hit a good 6 iron just short of the green. The two mulligans weren’t as good. Long long lag putt rimmed out of the cup. Second lag putt was also close. Third par out of five holes.

6. Tried out a “new” TaylorMade driver. Couldn’t really see where they went. Still needs work. Flub, then I rocketed a 5 iron down the fairway. It caught a tree branch, or it would’ve gone further. Hit three decent wedge shots out of 4 tries, but I keep pulling them left. Practiced three short chips, but none rolled close to the hole. “Bogey”

7. Tried out my other “new driver. Needs work. Hit two low 5 irons just over the crest of the hill. Hit one of three approach shots onto the green. Good long lag putt. “Bogey”.

8. Decent drive off the tee. Hit two of three approach shots onto the green. Good lags. Par.

9. Flubbed a 3 wood, but the mulligan was decent. Hit one of three chips onto the green. Two putt for a closing bogey. Finished at 818 am.

After golf I visited three Goodwills on the way home. Got a biscuit and free mini cinnamon rolls at Burger King. Also picked up peach cobbler at City BBQ for later. Then later for lunch I made quesadillas out of leftover Chipotle and leftover steak.

Our small groups are studying the entire book of Genesis, starting in late August and finishing next May. Usually one chapter per week, sometimes two. My group meets for two hours a week. Our pastor is preaching through the book of Romans. It’s going to take him at least a year, though he took a break over the summer. Usually like half a chapter a week.

I saw Lang’s videos from The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere. Pretty amazing.
