Win or lose Friday, the Braves had a great year. I mainly posted that on Twitter and Facebook with hopes of putting more casual fans in the mindset that should the Braves lose Friday, that the season wasn’t a complete loss. That was our old team motto: Win or lose, we eat pizza.
Except for the starting pitching, generally the Braves survived the season relatively injury free. Chipper played more games than expected. Simmons and McCann missed time, but Janish and Ross filled in admirably. Wren did a good job keeping enough healthy starting pitchers on the roster. Ben Sheets was a great 2012 story.
Think Kimbrel was any chance to win the Cy Young? Since Dickey had such a great year, I kinda doubt it.
Two ladies were shown holding up a Freedy Freeman Fan Club sign. Freeman pinch hit and was called out by the third base ump on a terrible call. Then Freeman was thrown out of the game for arguing. Late announcer Tom Hart interviewed the ladies: one older and dark haired, the other in a dress, younger than the first lady, perhaps in her mid-twenties. Neither looked like a weekend tennis player, much less a pro.
Left work just before 5 pm yesterday and drove straight home, arriving earlier than usual. Ceil told me some friends were bringing their kids over for the evening, so I spent the next hour and a half cleaning up. Ceil cooked baked chicken with bbq sauce, green beans, banana bread, and sweet potato soufflé. Watched the Braves, then talked to the Coleys when they came to pick up the kids. They hung around until after eleven, which was fine and fun. Then Anna asked me to help her with her homework.
While researching GT numbers I came across several photos of Wade Mitchell. Tech had great looking uniforms back then, in the late 50’s, 60’s, and early 70’s. Hopefully I’ll finish my UGA numbers soon. Still have a few to go.
