Rating the ACC Logos

Fans rated the ACC logos, but they got it wrong. Here are the correct rankings. A good logo is simple and stylized and doesn’t change every few years. Team success can make a logo look better. You should be able to make out a helmet logo from the stands.

Clemson: simple and recognizable, with the trademark cleft at the bottom. Would look good even if Clemson lost every game. Also like the old school block C often worn on caps. Great uniforms as well.

Miami: not much better than the legendary U. Too much black in the uniforms.

North Carolina: simple with a unique color. I also like the old UNC logo and Tarheel logo. Too much black in the uniforms.

Virginia: not a bad logo. Better without the swashbuckling Cavalier dude.

FSU: semi-busy but good due to longevity and team success. Too much black in the uniforms these days. Tomahawk on the helmet also cool. Love to get those liberals all riled up.

Pitt: nice that the logo hasn’t changed (actually it did but they got smart and switched back). Colors also unique and nice.

Georgia Tech: GT logo is simple. Hate the logo with cartoon Buzz. The old logo T with the old yellow jacket is good as well.

Virginia Tech: the VT isn’t too bad, but is still on the plain side. Points off for being burgundy. But several other old-school logos they’ve drug out recently have also been cool.

Duke: logo looks decent with the basketball in the middle. Iconic but could be improved. Too much black in the uniforms these days.

Syracuse: you’d think such a legendary school could do better than a block S. Put the Orangeman on an alternate helmet.

Louisville: the cardinal is stationary. Just sitting there. Should project forward motion. Better than the inexplicable Olde English L you see on the sidelines. Too much black in the uniforms.

NC State: iconic but hard to read. Drop the outlines. Get rid of the black. Wolf logo is cool.

Boston College: too complicated. Give me the BC or the eagle, not both. Looks like a logo for a Division 2 school, or a minor league baseball team.

Wake Forest manages to make WF look bad. Give me the old WF flying wing logo.

Goldberg and his brother were on a recent episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, showing off their grandmother’s red El Dorado. When Jay drove the car with an expert in the passenger seat, Goldberg and his brother squeezed in the back. Ceil wasn’t happy I had chose to watch the car show, but when she started watched the banter between Jay and the car owners, she started to like it.

One episode was filmed here in Atlanta, at the Varsity with the huge station wagon from the Chevy Chase movie Vacation. They filmed in the elevated lot. Should’ve parked in the curb service area.

Ceil’s mom’s meniscus surgery went well and they were back home after a long day.

Stayed at work doing stuff till six. Made a couple of stops on the way home: Chickfila and unloaded some giveaways at Goodwill. Had a package at our door but had to take it to a neighbor.

Been going through the fridge trying eat stuff that’s been sitting there. Made some cheese fries and cooked up some lunch for today: some sort of non meat chicken like stuff. Added cheese and cooked some bacon but wound up burning parts of it. Brought bread to make into sandwiches.

Watched Jeopardy and the Braves and Modern Family and some Blackish but mostly the Braves. Wasn’t in the mood for a movie.

Another HR for Riley, his ninth in 16 games. Only two other big leaguers have done that. Riley didn’t even know who was pitching. Donaldson HR and Freddie became the sixth Brave with 200 HR and doubles, joining Aaron, Mathews, Chipper, Murphy, and Andruw.

Fried got hit with a comebacker. Second time that’s happened. Not his best night but you can’t be lights out every time you pitch. Tuki and the bullpen came in and threw shutout innings, and the offense came back.
