Week 3 Football Recap

Clemson dominated the first three quarters against Syracuse, even if the 24-6 score might not have showed it. The Orangemen failed to score a touchdown despite four red zone appearances. On the fourth possession Syracuse could not score on four plays inside the Clemson five. The goal line stand was needed after sophomore QB Trevor Lawrence threw his second interception of the evening.

On the interception return an obvious clip was not called. Neither were several illegal hits by Syracuse. Nor interference on Clemson’s touchdown pass. Had Clemson not so dominated the game, the officials just about let the game get out of hand, with no calls and delays to review needless replays.

Nice to see former Falcon Tim Green’s Syracuse jersey retired at halftime.

Clemson’s kicker missed a field goal, banging it off the upright perhaps after a high snap. UGA kicker Rodrigo Blankenship remained perfect for the year, booting two field goals and seven extra points.

After routing Syracuse last week, this week Maryland lost to Temple – for the second straight year.

As usual Kentucky got all fired up dressed head to toe in blue, came out and led Florida most of the game, only to miss a late field goal and lose to the Gators.

South Carolina fans thought they were robbed, but the calls I saw were correct, like on the fake field goal and on the punt downed on the one yard line.

Justin Fields was only 14-24 passing against mighty Indiana.

I’ve already written about Georgia Tech. To a knowledgeable fan this was no surprise. The schedule doesn’t get any easier. Tobias Oliver is Tech’s best athlete and has been returning kicks. Johnson is too indecisive. Graham is hurt. If Geoff Collins is a good coach he will take the redshirt off his true freshman QB.

UGA big over Arkansas State. Football experts are saying the Dawgs should beat Notre Dame easily. They just need to come ready to play.
