Ten habits that change boys into men – one of the better articles I’ve read recently. Wish I’d seen this when I was twenty.
1. Think beyond yourself. Don’t think you are better than others. Don’t exaggerate your talents or gifts. Don’t expect constant praise and adoration. Don’t fail to recognize the emotions and feelings of others. Don’t express disdain for those who seem inferior. Don’t act as if you have nothing to learn.
Experience your feelings. Don’t block them out. Let go of thinking things should be a certain way. Accept what is. Life is a journey, not a destination. Happiness does not come from things. Trust your inner voice. Explore the world. Experience new cultures. Question your own intentions and motivation. Don’t be so selfish. Be humble. Act with love, and become aware when you aren’t.
2. Stop playing video games. Gets in the way of important relationships or meaningful life pursuits. Is escaping reality ever healthy?
3. Learn in healthy environments. Lay off the meds, like for ADHD.
4. Get intensive physical stimulation. Helps with learning. Physical pain can fuel mental clarity. Healthy testosterone levels: regular exercise helps with fat loss, muscle gain, bone density, blood pressure, lowers obesity and heart attacks, increases energy, betters cognitive performance, improves focus, motivation, and memory.
5. Take responsibility for your life, and set your standards high. This is needed in order to thrive and flourish. If you believe you will succeed, you often will. Blaming others will not solve your problems. It will only leave you stuck and bitter. Instead write down what you want, and keep rereading these ambitions.
6. Prayer and journaling: gratitude, thankfulness, acclamation, and making your requests be made known it God. Makes you nicer, more forgiving, improves self-control.
7. Earn good friends. You are who you surround yourself with. Remove negative forces in your life. Not an easy thing. Instead surround yourself with people who lift you up and inspire you.
8. Commit fully to someone. Research shows this can reduce illness and increase the length of your life. Increases satisfaction and happiness, decreases depression and substance abuse.
9. Fall in love with learning. Ordinary people seek entertainment. Extraordinary people seek education and learning. We live in a world where you no longer need to go to college to become educated. You have an unlimited well of information at your fingertips. This will help you make better decisions. Stop gaming and start reading.
10. Take bigger risks, especially before the age of 40.
You can have whatever life you choose. Don’t be afraid to dream big.

Interesting Denison post about an NBA who thought he’d lost out on $3 million.
I was just thinking I could about wear a different quarter zip / hoodie / vest every day of the month, without repeating. Making this list helps me see I can get rid of a few of them.
Black adidas, Black Nike Tennis (yardwork), Black North Face, Black Braves Vision, Black Braves hoodie, Black Columbia PFG, Red Under Armour, Red Brooks (leave in car), Navy Grizzlies, Navy Vineyard Vines, Navy Georgia Techni Grizz hoodie, Orange Clemson, Grey Georgia Tech, Grey heather Braves, Blue High Country, Black Bad Boy vest, black lightweight vest, Black full zip vest, Navy quarter zip vest.
To give away: Grey Nike, Grey, Red, and Black Under Armour. No UGA quarter zips, but I have two UGA lightweight full zip jackets (black and grey) plus a heavier red UGA pullover anorak jacket.
Denison column on the vaccine: should be concerned it contains cells from aborted fetuses? (Spoiler: it doesn’t. Nothing to worry about).
