Alabama has three Heisman candidates: QB Mac Jones, RB Najee Harris, & their explosive WR. Will the voters split their picks so none will win?
Florida's Kyle Trask has had a monster season, but lost three games, including a disappointing loss to LSU that kept the Gators out of the playoff. With luck he'll finish second in the Heisman race.
Ohio State junior QB Justin Fields only played six games, but did not repeat the success of his sophomore season. Fields will garner votes, but deserves to finish no higher than sixth in the race.
Clemson has two candidates QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne, but the RB has faded from consideration. Lawrence missed two games this season, but has only lost one game in three years. He is far and away the best player in college football, making the QB position look easy while adding the running dimension in big games, opening up the Clemson offense all the more. Plus he's become the heart and soul of college football, calling for the season to be played as well as lobbying for social justice in America. His responses to interview questions are clear, well thought out answers, not mumbles or cliches.
Both Jones and Trask threw for over 400 yards in the SEC Championship Game. While blowing out mighty Notre Dame, Lawrence passed for about 300 and added almost 100 rushing yards - securing his position as the Heisman favorite.
Many times the Heisman is awarded to an upperclassman as a career achievement award, but this hasn't always been the the case. Peyton Manning lost out to one year wonder Charles Woodson. Deshaun Watson lost a similar race to Lamar Jackson. Will a deserving Lawrence lose out this year?
