Saturday morning the sun was coming up when I arrived at Candler Park at 645, and another golfer had already arrived. He was waiting on a buddy, so I was able to tee off ahead of him. On the par three 5th hole my tee shot was passible. Since I had the time, I hit a second tee shot. It felt good, but I had no idea where it went, as usual. As I approached the green, I found my ball had rolled up to just 4 feet from the hole. I sank the putt for a super rare “birdie”.
Ceil had gone shopping with Anna. My other friend Reid invited me over to watch the UGA game with him. Later back home C and I watched Miami beat Syracuse, and then Clemson beat FSU.
Sunday we attended the 830 service and Sunday School. Watched the end of the Falcons game. Raked the yard. Took food to a missionary family, and visited with friends Dan and Georgia.
Patriots “star” RB TreVeyon Henderson glanced over to the sidelines to check whether he should score or down the ball on the one yard line, and the internet thinks he’s the smartest player in the history of the sport.
Falcons blew it again. Now people are saying second year QB Michael Phenix doesn’t seem to be progressing. Several inaccurate passes due to poor footwork. Sure it’s athletic to be able to throw off balance, but the whole reason QB’s work on mechanics is to improve accuracy. It’s one thing to be able to determine the correct receiver to throw the ball to, and to get the pass off in time. But then if the pass fails to hit the target, the play is a failure.
There was a 100th anniversary celebration for Georgia Baptist Campus Ministry at 8 pm Sunday night after the evening service at FBC Atlanta, but I just didn’t feel like going out so late. There would’ve been several people there that I haven’t seen in a while: Al, Tom, Melissa, Don, Donna. Just too late of an evening. Didn’t want to sit through a bunch of self-congratulatory speeches by a bunch of people I didn’t know.
