Man one great thing about working in an office all day is that I’m not stuck out in traffic all day. Took off yesterday and drove C around. Was happy to be her chauffer, but it wore me out. Left the house around 10 am.
1. House to Target.
2. Target to Bellwood Coffee, on Bolton Road.
3. Bellwood to Westside Provisions. C shopped, then we ate lunch at Taqueria. Saw Rich Morris. At first he didn’t recognize us (I was wearing a cap). I told him that I was Anna’s father.
4. Westside Taqueria to Sam Flax on Northside Drive. Took C forever because the store computer was down. I was burning up in my sweatshirt, so while C shopped I went across the street to look for a cooler shirt to wear. Saw one but didn’t pull the trigger. Big mistake.
5. Sam Flax to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
A beautiful day to walk around.
Was there from 215-330.
When we left, Atlanta traffic was pretty much gridlocked.
6. Drove north on Piedmont to another Goodwill. No shirt. We’d been headed north toward Around Lenox, where C had wanted to go. But before I went into Goodwill she thought she might want to go back to Westside to get the shoes she had looked at.
7. I took the entrance ramp south onto the Buford Highway Connector. Gridlock. C changed her mind, wanting to go to Around Lenox. I took the Monroe Drive exit, then left onto Cheshire Bridge and then to Lenox. By the time we crossed Buford Highway she had changed her mind again, wanting to go back to the Westside. I stayed on Lenox, cut around the mall to Peachtree, then south on Peachtree four miles to Deering. Cut around toward IKEA to 17th Street to Howell Mill to Westside Provisions. Arrived at 5 pm. We’d pretty much been in the car for 1-1/2 hours.
8. By then I was worried we wouldn’t make our 6 pm reservation. Didn’t take C long to get the shoes. The GPS took me a back route to Ellsworth Industrial to Chattahoochee to Howell Mill to 75 north, to Moores Mill to West Paces Ferry, then a back route through Buckhead neighborhoods to Roswell Road. Made it by 545.
9. Supper at Superica with the entire fam. A good time.
10. Then south on Roswell for dessert at Jeni’s Ice Cream at West Paces Ferry.
11. Would’ve been simple to take one right hand turns to take I-75 home, but since it was her birthday C wanted to take GA-400. Had to take a right onto West Paces Ferry, then loop around Buckhead Village, right on Roswell, left on Pharr, left on Piedmont, right on the Lenox Connector, and left onto 400. Lots of red lights and traffic. Was almost 9 pm before we got home. An eleven hour trip.
I ate too much yesterday. After a big lunch at Taqueria, I cut back at Superica, skipped chips & salsa and beans & rice and cheese dip. Didn’t sleep well, and later threw up in the middle of the night. Skipped the gym this morning.
Had 100 unread emails this mothing. Got it down to 13 in my in box.
