Return to Stoney River & Kimchi Red

Tuesday night we had our work dinner at Stoney River. Pretty good. The two bigwigs weren’t there, so it was a little more relaxed. When we were sitting down Ceil had to sit on the end since she can only hear out of one ear. Coworker Jonathan made a point of coming over to sit by me, which was nice. Good stories from him and wife Valerie about their three kids, and their chickens. Also in attendance were Eric, Angie, Brad (and their spouses), and Alex.

I ordered the 10 ounce filet, which was delicious. Salad, rolls, spinach dip, shrimp on biscuits with gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, asparagus, and chocolate cake. A good evening. I was one of the last ones to finish eating. Stayed up till 11 pm. Went to bed but couldn’t sleep. At 3 am I got up. Remembered that I hadn’t taken my magnesium before bed. Took the vitamin and slept better the rest of the way.

Wednesday: stopped by Chickfila on the way home to cash in my free milkshake. Got in the mobile pickup line while I was still placing my order. Messed up and added tow milkshakes to my cart. Was trying to delete one of them when a car got in line behind me. Ugh. I just went ahead and got the two milkshakes. They were good. Then I was full.

Work was busy on Wednesday afternoon. Ceil baked some cookies and cleaned. From 5 pm to 7:15 I cleaned, and cleared off the driveway and front walk. Small group was good. Took my magnesium pill and slept real good. Man I took the entire week off from the gym past this week. I’ve been a bum. A busy bum.

My friend wanted to meet at Kimchi Red for lunch on Thursday. I hadn’t really liked it from the first time I went, but I figured I’d ordered the wrong thing. Thursday morning at work I looked over the menu and talked to coworkers Leo and Daniel. They recommended the soy garlic sauce, which is sweet not spicy. I ordered the half chicken boneless, coated in the soy garlic sauce. From the first bite I knew I’d ordered the right thing. Delicious. Had a good time catching up with my friend David. He and his family might spend Christmas in NYC. A longer than usual lunch, from 1130 to 115.

Then the rest of the afternoon was super busy. A long chat with my friend Tim Kurtz talking about his late brother Ricky. We’d all played football together in high school. I was supposed to deliver a short memorial about Ricky Saturday night at our reunion. Sat with Leo to knock out some work, and had to enter orders since Brad and Sherryl were out. Busy again on Friday, with Brad, Leo, and Sherryl all on vacation. Plus Angie was remote. Rachel and Lauren wanted me to record my voice on a Build A Bear. I was able to organize notes for the first time all week. Still have a ways to go.

Supper was grilled chicken and rice, with salsa. Christmas luncheon at work on Friday. Smoked turkey and ham from Dreamland BBQ, with all the fixins.

Did Ashley Corbitt retire? I just learned that at his church he was the deacon assigned to Mariah, the single girl who recently married to son of my other friend Reid.

RED RUFFING [SABR Bio] drove in more runs than any other pitcher in the Modern Era: 273, ahead of Walter Johnson’ 255. Cy Young leads all pitchers with 290, but the first ten years of his career were in the 1800s. Ruffing was drafted into the Army Air Corps during WWII, despite being nearly 38 years old and missing four toes. He was drafted 04-Jan-1943. In 1928, playing for the Red Sox, Ruffing led the league with 25 complete games. He led the majors in losses, with a record of 10-25.
