Can Tech Win 2 Straight?

I hope the high #26 ranking doesn’t give GT the big head. They lost to The Citadel last year. I don’t know much about UCF so I looked them up on the USA Today Sagarin Ratings. Even though they haven’t played yet this season, UCF is ranked 21. GT is ranked 58. According to the AJC article below, Tech is basically ranked 28 in the AP poll, and UCF ranked 14.

Pet peeve: since teams like Tech like to wear a different uniform every week, why don’t they coordinate so they don’t clash with what the other team is wearing? Years ago Alabama used to wear a white helmet against teams with dark helmets, and their dark helmet against teams with lighter helmets. MAKES SENSE.

Last week GT knew FSU was going to wear their gold helmet. Would’ve been a good time for Tech to wear their white helmet. Might’ve cut down on the interceptions. This week GT plays UCF, who sometimes wears a white helmet, sometimes gold, sometimes a black helmet. Why not make sure both teams don’t wear the same color helmet? They do that with jerseys. Later GT plays gold-helmeted Boston College. Work it out!
In the 2019 spring “Gold/White” game the gold team wore gold jerseys and pants – and white helmets. The white team wore white jerseys – and gold helmets and pants. Don’t they know these things are important!!!

Figured out why GT freshman kicker Jude Kelly (#87, top) had three kicks blocked Saturday. In addition to being too slow on his approach (waiting until the ball is placed to start his approach), the kid is taking three steps for a field goal instead of two. This is Division 1 college football. Kid better up his game. Vegas has UCF favored to beat GT on Saturday.

My sleep hasn’t been the best. Quit drinking caffeine (temporarily). Trying not to eat before bed.

Barney has been going upstairs just about every night. Now he goes up when Ceil goes upstairs. Last night that was before me. When I got upstairs he was in the bed, which was a high jump for him considering his hurt leg. So he spent all night in bed for the first time in over a year.

Since I was putting things back in the new fridge I had my eye out for what to fix for supper. Finished M’s half-eaten frozen dinner, then fixed BBQ nachos. Had to finish up some work and had the Braves on the TV.
The Braves magic number is either 9 or ten. Freddie Freeman is a MVP candidate. Adam Duvall has ten home runs this month, yet only ranks third on the team this month in OPS (on base percentage plus slugging percentage). Albies hitting .400 since he returned. Acuna is struggling at the plate, but is taking more walks, being more selective at the plate. Should make him an even more dangerous hitter. Last night he scored from first on Freeman’s double.
Man the wind was really blowing this morning. I had just a t-shirt on (Grizzlies) but went back and pulled on a long sleeve quarter-zip over that. Was going to Macon tomorrow but cancelled that trip due to the hurricane passing through.

Went out at lunch to cash in on a deal at Moes.

EARL WEAVER  [SABR Bio] holds the all-time American League record for ejections. The 3 ahead of him in number of ejections, managed all or most of their games in the senior circuit. Earl was the first manager to lead his seventy-year-old franchise to 100-win seasons. A franchise-best 109 wins in 1969 and then four more 100-win years in 1970, 1971, 1979 & 1980.The Browns/Os franchise has never had any other 100-win seasons. He once explained, “We're so bad right now that for us, back-to-back home runs means one today and another one tomorrow.” Quote was in 1972 when the Orioles weren’t quite up to the standard they had set 1969-71.

HARRY HOOPER  [SABR Bio] was the only player to reach base in what would have been Walter Johnson’s perfect game. Reaching on an error by rookie 2B Bucky Harris, Hooper was the only base-runner versus The Big Train 1-July-1920. Johnson still had the no-hitter, the only one of his career. Hooper was also the first player to hit two homers in a modern World Series-clinching game - 2-HR G 5 1915 WS. He never played or managed for the Yankees, but many credit him with the Yankees winning many championships. Hooper was key in convincing the Red Sox to let Babe Ruth play every day.
