Falcons Gonna Falcon

Same old Falcons. Falcons were down 15 with 4:45 to go. Called a timeout before the onside kick. What did they talk about?

I’m trying to watch as little NFL as possible. As Lang said it best (before the onside kick): “Falcons gonna Falcon.” Can’t really be surprised they lost a 20 point lead, then a 19 point lead.

Brilliant onside kick by Dallas. Should only work once. You would think a player would know the rule, but I’ve long said that players don’t watch football games they’re not playing in. The Falcon closest to the ball was second year wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus, from the University of Virginia. Made me want to message my Tech fan friend, who every time an ACC school does something good posts “ACC” on social media, as if Georgia Tech had something to do with it. But cooler heads prevailed.

When a Detroit fan suggested the Lions trade QB Matt Stafford and draft Trevor Lawrence, another fan called him out, correctly saying the problem wasn’t quarterback – the team needed to draft defense, not another QB. The same thing can be said about the Falcons. Teams that use number one picks to draft QB’s every few years usually aren’t advancing deep into the playoffs.

Headed into Friday’s game, Ronald Acuna had scored more runs (33) than he had hits (31) for the season. The last player to finish the season with more runs scored than hits was George Book in 1890, with 132 runs and 127 hits.

Slow weekend. Worked from home on Friday. Store bought lasagna and kale salad.

Woke up and showered earlier than usual Saturday morning to attend the on line annual meeting of our electric cooperative, which is always interesting. Then ESPN College Gameday. Did housework and ran errand after that: Kroger, thrift store, Wendy’s, and Chicken Salad Chick for Ceil.

Watched GT/UCF. Jackets missed out on at least ten points early. Too many turnovers and dumb penalties. Yet Tech fans on social media blamed the refs. That wasn’t why Tech lost. Next Saturday Tech travels to 0-2 Syracuse – a tough place to play. Clemson has lost there. The Orange lost to two good teams – UNC and Pitt. No cakewalk for Tech.

Flipped over a few times to Clemson/Citadel. Tigers built up a 49-0 lead at halftime, then the subs couldn’t score. I popped a big bowl of popcorn, and wasn’t hungry for supper. Hallmark Channel movies after that.

Online Sunday School and worship. News: our Sunday School class will meet in person on October 11 – in a field. To say farewell to two missionary couple as they return to the field.

Leftovers for lunch. Watched more of the Braves than Falcons, which was a good thing. Then the final few holes of the US Open. Pancakes for supper.

I fixed a turkey sandwich for lunch today, but ate it for breakfast. Lunch meeting catered by Chickfila. This evening is our first meeting for my new small group. Might stop by Steak’n Shake on the way.
