GT FB: QB Sims to Start

News: word is Tech will be starting true freshman QB Jeff Sims in the season opener. Hopefully he won’t get beat up too bad. Go ahead and say it, you hadn’t read this anywhere else. Keep coming back for all things Georgia Tech.
More: the Jackets’ new astroturf field sports one gold end zone and one navy end zone, plus different colored trim on each end of the field. Thumbs down. Who does that? Leave it to Tech to screw up again.

I really haven’t paid much attention to football, with all the schedule changes. Now that it’s here I gotta figure out when teams will be playing. Last Saturday we didn’t realize ESPN College Gameday was on, but surely it was different not being all together on a college campus. Predictions tomorrow. The season openers…

How many runs did the Braves score last night? 29? Still the Twitter experts complained. Albies first night back, and he homered. So did Acuna, d’Arnauld, and Duvall. Seven homers in all. Ender played. Had Markakis played it would’ve been the best lineup available. No room for Carmaro or Culbertson. Charlie will be missed.

CF Acuna
2B Albies
1B Freeman 1500 hits
DH Ozuna
C D’Arnauld
LF Duvall
SS Swanson
3B Riley
RF Markakis 500+ doubles
For yesterday's Roberto Clemente Day the entire Pirates team wore number 21. Several other Puerto Rican players around MLB also wore Clemente's number.

Umpire Joe West threw the Nationals GM out of the stadium. With no fans in the stands it was easy to hear the GM yelling down from his suite at the umpires. Joe West is going to break a record early next year. He is 67, just hanging around to break the record – I guess for most games umpires. Some say he is too big for his britches.

Had a dream Jonathan and I were visiting Rodney at his house in Toronto. The house overlooked the court where the Toronto Raptors play. During a second half timeout the players stayed on the court, standing where they’d been when the whistle blew. Rodney came out, playing a small bagpipe-like musical instrument. He weaved around the players, playing what I figured to be a Canadian version of a song like God Bless America. Every time he passed us, Rodney would cut his eyes up at Jonathan and me.

Old notes on decision making: ask yourself…
1. Why am I doing this – really?
2. If someone with my circumstances came to me and asked my advice, what would you tell them?
3. In light of my past experiences and future hopes and dreams, what is the wise thing to do?

I missed golf on Sunday and Monday. Forgot to look for the blimp when I was driving through town both days. Not a big fan of Dustin Johnson.

Was trying not to scratch my any bite. Finally wore socks late Monday to cut the grass, then this week for work. Thought about skipping socks since my back’s been hurting.

Tuesday: left work shortly after five. The GPS said 285 traffic was jammed and to take 85 south to 75 north. But the 75 north lane was jammed from Lindberg south the the 75 north ramp. Arrived at Moe's near Cumberland Mall around 6:20. Grabbed a burrito to go then parked in the Battery Red Lot.

Planted my lawn chair on the green outside Truist Park. A cornhole league was in action on the green. Checked out the Braves Clubhouse Store and walked around the stadium a bit, then settled in my seat to watched the Braves game on the big screen TV outside the ballpark. I figured the crowd would be smaller on a Tuesday than the weekend, though it was evident the restaurants all had a decent amount of customers.

Munched on my burrito and cleared off emails from my phone. Saw a young buddy who goes to a lot of games. Didn’t realize he works at Mt Vernon Baptist. A wonderful cool evening with plenty of space to socially distance. Stayed for two hours, then enjoyed a traffic-free drive home.

My email was acting weird on Wednesday. On Tuesday nothing would print. Then when I was about to give up on the printing, everything all printed out at the same time.

Wednesday: stopped by Kroger for ice, to keep the old fridge cold. Hopefully the new fridge will deliver next Tuesday. Black beans and rice for supper. Was after 9 before I was able to sit down. Didn’t sleep well.

Thursday: 220 emails by 11 am. That’s more than 73 per hour. Most require a response. Many require action on my part. Not long ago 200 emails in one day was a lot. Worked until 7 pm last night to clean everything up, then get to work with 50 new emails to go through. Hard to get things done, down one team member, another on vacation, and the third working remotely.
