Stetson: the Next Eli?

Bowl Game Total QB Rating: Stetson had a better TQBR than the other three QB’s in the playoff games. For the season Bennett slipped ahead of Bryce Young into second place. Clemson QB DJ Ukelele finally cracked the top hundred, finishing in 97th place, ahead of GT QB Jordan Yates, ranked 100th. Recently I stumbled across photos of GA QB Stetson Bennett with his family at their Christmas Eve candlelight service in South Georgia. Bama QB Young is a Christian as well, and has spoken eloquently about his faith.

Monday night I have small group from 6:30-8 pm. Lately we’ve been hanging around afterwards to chat. Monday I will need to leave immediately to get home for the big game.  Steak Shapiro pointed out that Tom Brady lost Super Bowls to Nick Foles and Eli Manning, so its possible Stetson Bennett could beat Bama. We shall see.

A troubled wide receiver walks out on his team in the middle of a game while they are losing, perhaps because he’s going to miss out on a million dollars in bonuses. The QB rallies his team to victory to clinch the division championship - despite missing his star running back and several other offensive weapons, then takes up for the turncoat WR after the game. This year the QB led the NFL in passing yards, completions, and TD’s. Should he win MVP?

Shivonne wore her new jacket for the first time today.

Social media: on New Year’s Day (and the few days after) I worked to unfollow many of the accounts I’m linked up to on social media, to help force me to spend less time on them. Keeping L and C, Don and Angela, and other close friends, as well as some “train wrecks” that often post outlandish stuff. Dialing way back. Need to get a book to read for the house.

I did not unfollow Jeff Hullinger, who people are calling the new Franklin Garrett, the former Atlanta historian who lived inside the Fox Theater.

Hullinger spent Christmas and New Years holed up in his spare bedroom with omincrock.

Today is National Bobblehead Day, and the Braves unveiled the Dale Murphy Power Alley bobblehead they'll be giving away this June. Based on the iconic poster.

DON DRYSDALE  [SABR Bio] in 1965, a year his team won the World Series, he had a higher batting average (.300) than any of the eight position player teammates in the starting lineup, higher than any Dodger teammate who qualified for the batting title. Even though his 14-year MLB career is all within the Cy Young Award era, he only ever received votes the year he won it. He did receive MVP votes in four different seasons. He won the CYA in 1962 and received MVP votes in 1957, 1962*, 1963* & 1965 (*MVP won by a Dodger teammate). He’s the only pitcher to start both All-Star games in one season. Drysdale was the starting pitcher of both ASGs in 1959, the first year of the two ASG experiment.
