Seinfeld's Comedy Tips

Jerry Seinfeld’s five step comedy writing process. Believe it or not I figured out a tiny bit of this on my own from watching comedians like Seinfeld, Leno, and Gaffigan. This has helped with my speech-writing. If you need any help with this let me know. That last sentence was a joke. See?

1. Start with a funny topic.

2. Think of emotions and images around that funny topic, to come up with more jokes.

3. Assemble the topics and jokes logically, and connect them sequentially.

4. Compress the jokes, and adjust the pacing. Toss out the extra words to make it concise. Short sentences with pauses in between.

5. Test out the jokes in smaller audiences. That’s what I do all day at work, and when I’m with friends.

Jerry is performing June 23 at the Classic Center in Athens, but the cheapest ticket is $458.00. Would be cool to see him again, but not for that price. Nice that I was able to see him back in the day.

A coworker sent this photo of her work at home command center. I told her the plot line for the Seinfeld episode on the TV: George is trying to get a job at Vandalay Industries, an importer / exporter. George admires the photo of the unemployment lady’s daughter.

These Charles Martin books are good. Two ex-military / priests fight human trafficking, saving and rehabilitating the young mostly girls, but also some boys (and a few adults as well). The Water Keeper is the first of at least three. Highly recommended. This morning I started book three, The Record Keeper. Turns out the enemy is the older priest’s brother. And the guy who reads these audiobooks also reads John Grisham’s books. I could listen to him read the phone book.

“The Letter Keeper, by Charles Martin, is the second of three in his Murphy Shepherd series on human trafficking. Murf’s real first name is David. Lots of backstory in this second book, mixed in with new adventure.

My boss was talking about what a great movie Cool Hand Luke was. I said I’d never seen it – that I don’t like westerns.

I am a big fan of Romans. In college I memorized Romans 12, just on my own. Also several other verses from the book. At JFBC Clay is nearing the end of his preaching through the book of Hebrews. Not sure what will be next.

Article: statistical fraud found in climate change documents. So much for trusting the science – evidently global warming is indeed “man-made”.

A new Senate bill would create a federal agency to police Americans for 'Misinformation' and 'Hate Speech' – a clear violation of the First Amendment.

DENISON: no matter what the Dodgers do, they’re going to offend a group of their fans. This topic came up on Uni Watch as well.

JACOB deGROM [B-R Bio] owns an .800 postseason winning percentage. He owns 2 NLDS wins, 1 NLCS win, and 1 NLWC win. Also has 1 WS loss. Won the Cy Young Award in 2018 & 2019 (each was only one vote away from unanimous). He attended Stetson University in Florida. Here he is wearing his Stetson hat. He finished among the majors’ Top Ten in lowest qualifying ERAs four times in six seasons. In 2018, deGrom’s 1.70 ERA led all qualifying pitchers. In 2015 his 2.55 finished 6th; in 2019 his 2.43 trailed only the 2.32 of LA’s Hyun Jin Ryu; in 2020 his 2.38 was 6th among MLB pitchers.

Like Jim Thorpe, Jackie Robinson, Dick Groat, and Chuck Coonors before him, Herman Munster starred in several different sports. Thst's Herman taking a handoff above, from Colts QB Johnny Unitas.
In fact, before choosing Bo Jackson, Nike considered a "Herman Knows" campaign to promote their cross trainers.
