Yesterday at the political rally at Washington’s Capitol Center Arena, protesters stormed the security and gained entry through a photographer’s entrance. Isn’t that an insurrection? You’d think the protesters would’ve been happy that the Village People were performing at the inauguration. Reminds me of the classic scene in Wayne’s World 2 when Wayne & Garth don disguises to spy on Cassandra. When chased they duck into a bar – and the DJ starts playing YMCA. Life imitates “art”.
Friday night we met Matthew and Monsie at Nuevo Laredo Catina, the popular spot on Chattahoochee Ave. A long wait and crowded, but worth it. Monzie talked me in to ordering a chimichanga, and it was great. She got huevos rancheros, which looked good. Ceil’s chalupa dish was huge. Didn’t get home until 10 pm.
The email on my phone is messing up again. I sent those sermon notes yesterday at the end of the service, but you didn’t get them until this morning when I got to work. Last night I was looking for the notes but couldn’t find them, and knew I had the problem.
Last night JFBC had a gathering for volunteers. Well over 200 showed up...mostly old people like us. I thought it would be a meal, but I was wrong. Some praise singing and Clay spoke – wearing Nike high-top sneakers. He hates when people call it "Johnson's Ferry so much that he had a huge sign made up (below). Sounds like JFBC is planning on a new building. In 2024 there were over 1300 new people at JFBC. Baptized over 70 on one Sunday. After the service there were snacks and games.
Went to Cheeseburger Bobbys for lunch today. Free burger but I caved and got the fries and drink. Fries weren't great. Wendys just as good. I need to drag C to Roasters sometime. I was just checking out the menu. Also there is a little place directly across from the Brookwood Grill that I want to go, next to the CVS called Cozy Coop. Might have to drag the guys there for lunch one Saturday.
Interesting that the Grizzlies played at 230 today, and the Hawks at 3 pm.
So next Sunday it’s the Bills@Chiefs at 630 and Washington@Eagles at 3 pm. Did you see that Caitlin Clark was at the Chiefs game this past Saturday?

DON MONEY [SABR Bio] holds the record for home runs hit by a native of the District of Columbia. Money & hit 176 for Philadelphia and Milwaukee in his 16-year MLB career. He also has the most RBI & strikeouts, and trails only Maury Wills in career WAR. Money hit the first home run in The Vet on 10-Apr-1971 off Montreal’s Bill Stoneman in the 6th inning. Playing for Milwaukee in 1974, Money set the record for consecutive 76 games played at third base without committing an error. He would go on to complete an 86-game streak with no errors in 257 chances. He had only 5 errors over 157 games at 3rd, the record for fewest errors by a 3rd baseman in a season. Money did not receive the Gold Glove that year. It went to Brooks Robinson for the 15th consecutive season.
