Nachos For Nacho

Monday: left work before 530. Mexican for supper. I made nachos in honor of the MLB debut of Braves infielder Nacho Alvarez.

With Ozzie Albies hurt (joining Strider, Acuna, Fried, and Harris on the DL), the Braves signed former Phillie All Star Whitt Merrifield – who promptly got hurt during pregame infield drills. Austin Riley left the game in the 9th inning to join his wife at the hospital, who was in labor with their second baby.

Hard to replace Acuna Albies and Harris. Fans complain about the lack of run production. After two straight years of record offensive production, the team was overdue for a dropoff. They've tried out a revolving door of replacement players, signing free agents and minor league callups. Names like Forrest Wall (.241), Luke Williams (.100), Zack Short (.137), JP Martinez ( .200), Luis Guillorme (.150), David Fletcher (.250), Brian Anderson (.000), Eli White (.231), Ramon Laureano (.256), Chadwick Tromp (.250), and Eddie Rosario (.205) haven't been much help – but the sheer number of players they've brought in shows that their trying. Can't just trade Rafael Belliard for Ken Griffey Jr. But expect a trade before month end.

Last night to kick off preparations for next years' MLB all star game in Atlanta, the Braves unveiled the 1995 ASG logo, and welcomed former all stars Dale Murphy, Tim Hudson, Terry Pendleton, Andruw, Chipper, Bruce Benedict, Paul Byrd, Leo Mazzone, and Brian Jordan. Mark Wohlers looked trim. Also Ryan Klesko, Johnny Estrada, Ron Reed, Kevin Millwood, Glenn Hubbard, Gerald Perry, Jonny Venters, J Jurrigans. No Brian McCann, Bob Horner, Glavine, Smoltz, or Glavine, who must've had other commitments.

LOU GEHRIG [SABR Bio] his number 4, one of the first ever assigned, was the first number ever retired. Other teams and sports have adopted the tradition as a way of honoring the memory of their all-time greats. The Yankees have now retired the numbers of an additional 22 former Yankees. Of the six highest single-season RBI totals in history, three are his. His 185 RBI in 1931 is the highest ever for a first baseman, for an American League player, and for a left-handed batter. Gehrig's accomplishments as a player can be overwhelming. He knocked in at least 100 RBI in 13 consecutive seasons.

Watched the Bob Newhart special last night. Very good. Reminded me of things he had done that I had forgotten.

Got down to ten emails in my in box.

Rant: I want to vote for a candidate who doesn't treat me like an idiot. Doesn't speak to me like I am a kindergartener. Doesn't have to be a Christian but doesn't constantly spout lies, thinking that I am too stupid to know the difference between truth and a lie. Doesn't have to be a Christian but someone who isn't constantly chanting Marxist and Satanic phrases. I want a candidate who can speak for themselves without constantly saying the wrong thing or putting their foot in their mouth. Doesn't allow themselves to be used by powerful elites or be so power hungry they'll do anything to be elected – including murder. Who doesn't yell or threaten voters in a fear mongering way. Seems like those are the people we need to be afraid of.

News of the day…

…proof of a 177 page United Nations "replacement migration" report detailing the plan currently being implemented to double the population in Europe – and bolster the aging population in the US.

...rumors of war, riots, famine, natural disasters, and economic hardship, that election results could trigger.

…perhaps a civil war, some say.

…notice the media never asks Democratic candidates if they will accept the results of the election should they be on the losing side.

…while being grilled by congressmen from both parties, the Secret Service director seemed to be withholding information. She resigned today.

…the government is spending $400 million of taxpayer money - to reduce carbon emissions by 0.0016%. How much are other countries chipping in?
