Max Fried’s hitting – one of the Braves’ top five hardest hit balls yesterday was Fried.
UNC coach Roy Williams retired. Word was he didn’t want to mess with all the players entering the transfer portal. The tournament isn’t over, and already over a thousand players are transferring. Every year he had to recruit every one of his players all over again, plus a new freshman class, plus any transferring players. Recruiting just became three times harder.
Los Angeles Lakers. LA Dodgers. LA Clippers. LA Rams. LA Chargers. LA Angels. All moved to Los Angles from somewhere else – kinda. In 1961 the expansion Angels and Chargers started play as LA teams, then moved away. The Raiders can be added to this list.
Thursday: worked from 7:45 am to 7:45 pm. Stopped by Kroger. Was almost 9 pm when I got home. Ate half a "deluxe" frozen pizza (wasn't that good) and watched some Seinfeld.
Worked from home today. The deliverymen brought the new dishwasher, but it had a dent in the front. The process starts over.
Article: behaviors that make people look old. I take these notes for me. Some I’m good at, others I need to work on.
1. Less motivated for promotions. Okay to be comfortable and looking toward retirement, but getting too comfortable may get you replaced. Instead give it everything you’ve got every day.
2. Harder to train. Don’t get stuck in your ways. Show enthusiasm for changes.
3. Not wanting to work from home.
4. Not learning new technology. Don’t apologize if you don’t know how to use the latest technology, but learn.
5. Not taking instruction well.
6. Commanding respect from younger management. Don’t be disrespectful. To command respect you must offer respect. Age doesn’t demand respect. Use your experience. Speak up.
7. Preference to work on tasks alone. Instead be a people person. A team player. Collaborate.
8. Insisting on doing tasks manually. Some employers won’t allow this any more. Instead work smarter.
9. Not taking criticism well. Put your ego aside.
10. Not using technology to communicate. Resisting could make you a black sheep.
11. Refusing to do more work. Today job descriptions are more fluid than ever. Be adaptable. Do what your boss asks.
12. Apologizing for not understanding. Don’t be embarrassed.
Drivers of Success: PINT. I have a feeling this list might've read differently five years ago.
Prominence: the goal to achieve and have power.
Inclusiveness: having empathy for others, and treating people equitably.
Negativity Prevention: avoiding things that can go wrong.
Tradition: the desire to engage with significant norms like patriotism and religion.
Sac Fly Blog was good before it got all political.
