Wednesday: left the office and got gas at a crowded RaceTrac. Then moved the car to a regular spot and went inside for my free diet Mtn Dew. Had a crisis at work so I was on the phone the whole way down. Cut the grass at my mom’s house. Worked for three straight hours, the yard was so big. Worked until dark. Started having cramps.in my legs. Was filthy dirty. Drove back home. Should’ve gotten a PowerAde but got another diet Mtn Dew for the caffeine. Traffic was still bad even though it was late. Decided to kick off my shoes and socks because my feet were so hot and dirty. Bent my leg, and the cramps came back. Got so bad I had to get off at an exit and get out of the car. Didn’t get home until almost 10:30. Took a shower. During the night I had more cramps. Went downstairs to drink.
I'm getting all these visits from overseas, thousands of them. Going to make this blog private.
Thursday supper: pork chops, baked potatoes, tossed salad.
OSSEE SCHRECONGOST [SABR Bio] caught for the 1899 Cleveland Spiders before he and most of the good players on the team were “transferred” to the St. Louis Perfectos, also of the National League, owned by the same group. The Spiders, once a legitimate big league team, was reduced to 2nd and 3rd string players, and finished with a record of 20-134, 8 of the 20 coming before the forced migration. His WAR in Cleveland tied teammate Chief Zimmer. In 1901 Schrek played 86 games as the 1st-team catcher for the new AL club in Boston. Ossee was twice on the losing side in perfect games thrown by future Hall of Famers. He was on PHA when BOS’s Cy Young pitched the first perfect game of the 20th century 05-May-1904 and then on CHW when CLE’s Addie Joss pitched the 2nd perfecto of baseball’s Modern Era 02-Oct-1908. He twice umpired major league games his team was playing in, one of them behind home plate. Umpired games on 02-May & 22-Jul in 1903.Denison: the Boston Globe is responding with two paradoxical reports. "The unwavering faith and passion of true belief is increasingly being channeled not into religious observance but into identity politics and the culture wars." This can be problematic. The other part is more positive. It states (with links to substantiating research) "regular worshipers tend to live longer, to suffer lower levels of stress, to have fewer symptoms of depression, and to have better cardiovascular and immune function. Religious worshipers tend to be happier, to drink less, to have lower rates of drug abuse, and to give to charity and donate blood at above-average rates. Amid the difficult circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, a survey of self-reported health conditions found Americans who attended religious services regularly were the only demographic to avoid a decline in their mental health in 2020. Secularism fails to keep its promises, demonstrating our need for faith in a transcendent God.
