Cola Wars

Spoke with my friend Robert on Sunday, and the conversation drifted over to fountain soft drinks. He works for Coca Cola on the McDonalds account, and says the mix of syrup to carbonated water is not special for McDonalds – but both companies go to great lengths to make sure the ratio and taste is just right. In addition to the ratio, factors include verifying the equipment is clean and functioning properly, the soft drink comes out already cold, and employees are trained to only fill the cup a third of the way with ice. Too much ice can water down the flavor. Robert says the worst thing is a hot can of Coke poured over a cup of ice.

That said, I am convinced the Peachtree Industrial RaceTrac that I frequent is messing with the syrup to carbonated water ratio. The Diet Mtn Dew is not as strong as it should be. Might have to switch to Coke Zero. And in the past month or so, the drinks are served less cold that they had been. Really spoils the experience. I could drive to the Peachtree Parkway RaceTrac, but it would lengthen my commute.

Robert also said that there's a place at Disney World that serves more Cokes every day than anywhere else in the world. He says The Varsity is high on that list. They used to be number one.

Had a dream the other night where there were some black Coke cans with white lettering – Oreo flavored.

Reading Kat Timpf's book. She's a regular on Gutfield, and a stand up comedian. Deals with many touchy subjects in a straightforward and humorous manner, including many of the rough patches in her life. The books start slow, but it grew on me.

Jeremiah 17:7-8: Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lᴏʀᴅ, whose trust is in the Lᴏʀᴅ. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
