As The Falcons Turn

Ten starting NFL QBs sat out the entire preseason, so Kirk Cousins wasn’t the only one. Lots of chatter about the Falcons. Center was head-bobbing before the snap, allowing the defense to time their jump. Watt ate their lunch. Supposedly 86% of Atlanta’s running plays game out of the same formation.

And is Cousins healthy? He took all of his snaps from the shogun – none from under center. Can he drop back to pass? He almost never scrambled against the Steelers. Is this why rookie QB Michael Penix was held out of most of the postseason as well? With the Falcons in a weak division, it sure would be nice to make a run at the playoffs.

Still disappointed by the Tech loss. I am far from expert, but I thought they had a small chance to win their first 11 games. Syracuse was every bit Tech’s equal. Hard to win in the old Carrier Dome. Will be tough for the Jackets to win in Louisville as well. Like the Braves, Tech has at least two key players out for the season. I figured if GT could beat FSU, then they could beat all the other ACC schools on their schedule. But now we know FSU isn’t nearly as good as people thought they were gonna be.

Former GT RB Jordan Mason got some carries last night for the 49ers, with Christian McCaffery out. Eli asked where Mason had gone to school, and Payton replied “He’s a Ramblin Wreck From Georgia Tech”.

Everyone slamming Tom Brady’s first game as an announcer. Why would they expect perfection from a rookie calling his first game? Goodness. I’d like to see any of those critics do as good of a job. Give the guy a chance.

Speaking of the NFL, those New York Giants throwback uniforms sure were something.

I stayed at the office Monday until almost 6 pm, working on personal stuff. Not fun. I’d thought Ceil had a Zoom call at 6 pm, then learned it had been moved to seven. We ate black beans and rice. While she was on her call, I watched the latest episode of Only Murderers in the Building. Good stuff. Then the Manningcast.

Lifted weights and did core exercises at the gym this morning.
