Braves To Ditch City Connects?

RUMOR: the Braves are ditching their Saturday night “City Connect” uniforms at the end of this season.

FACT: get yours now at the team store for 50% off. Never did like that City Connect cap.

MLB allows teams to wear five uniform sets. Here’s how I would dress the Braves, with the following changes:

1. HOME WHITE: large red names, outlined in navy like the block numbers. Jersey number on front left, under the black tomahawk.

2. ROAD GREY: same changes as above, plus change ATLANTA to read BRAVES. Black tomahawk.

3. FRIDAY RED: white names on back. Navy numbers, outlined in white. Simple white piping. Numbers added to the front left. Not my favorite, but its popular with the fans.

4. AARON THROWBACK: royal 1974 jerseys with white pants. No names on back. White block numbers outlines in red. To wear every Saturday, home and road. Flip flop, wearing royal jerseys one year and white the next.

5. POWDER BLUE: jerseys & pants, royal BRAVES & numbers outlined in white, royal untrimmed names on back. Worn as a road alternate plus at home on special occasions. Royal 1982 cap with untrimmed script A in white.

Found a nice old wool Braves home cap at the thrift store this week. I already have two fitted Braves home caps (plus many more Braves caps) so I really didn’t need another. But this cap is decently worn in, old enough that it doesn’t have the New Era logo on the side, made from heavier wool than the more lightweight fabric used today. The front panel is slouched back, so it doesn’t stand straight up like today’s game caps do. Fits down nicely to cover my large head. I’ll probably move this “new” cap into my regular rotation, especially as the days become more chilly.

A couple of years ago I got a new on field home cap made from the lighter fabric, with the large front panel. It’s nice and I should wear it more. My other home cap is a stretch model with a slouched front. Has the Braves wordmark and tomahawk on the back instead of the MLB logo. Might sell that one.

Those long games that go on and on are so hard to watch. You are a bigger fan than me. Not sure when the last time I watched a game from start to finish, other than UGA or Clemson.

Saw where ESPN named Caitlin rookie of the year. Pretty sure her combination of points, rebounds, and assts were the highest for any rookie in WNBA history.

The Young Sheldon spinoff “Georgie & Many’s First Marriage” premieres Thursday Oct 17. Annie Potts reprises her role as Meemaw. Wednesday night Ceil watched the first episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Thursday was the 54th anniversary of its debut.

Finished the Kat Timft book “You Can’t Joke About That”, which got better as I went along. Not bad for an agnostic Libertarian. She ended the book sharing what to do in case you are stopped by the police. Odd, but good advice. Also finished “Recipe For A Perfect Wife”, a chick lit novel by Karma Brown, with some surprising twists.

MY BEEF: Friday morning a white Porshe SUV halted traffic at RaceTrac, backing in right at the front door. Took up one third of one space and 2/3 of another – so whether they were trying to only take up one space or being a hog and taking up two spaces, they did a bad job either way. I was sure to give them the stink eye as I walked past (after changing my route to avoid getting hit by him). Myna Tellenhusen would be proud.
