QB or Pitch Man?

The new Dr. Pepper Fansville ad features new Clemson QB DJ. The linked article is wrong: DJ will not become the face of college football. Surely he received the national endorsement because (1) his race, (2) his status as Clemson's QB appeals to the Southeast, and (3) his California roots. My take: DJ will not surpass predecessors Watson and Lawrence. Old Kelly whats-his-face had good stats running Clemson's explosive offense, but did not thrive after defecting to mighty Missouri. Clemson should win the conference, but advancing to the national championship game could be problematic.

I've been eating a little too good lately...

Wednesday lunch: brisket tacos at home.

Snack: Baskin Robbins chocolate surprise and Snickers ice cream. Terrible service.

Supper at Rhineharts Oyster Bar. Great burger. Ate too much of the shrimp spread on crackers. The shrimp and the hushpuppies fried in the same oil as the fish caused my throat to swell. Not good staying in a hotel by myself. Drank more caffeine to help with the swelling, which meant that I got very little sleep. Was better by morning.

Thursday breakfast: Chickila biscuit. Passed on the hash browns. Was too busy. Later had a Boston Cream donut.

Lunch: ate one slice of New York meat pizza before leaving the plant. Later a Chickfila sandwich and peach milkshake.

Stopped by Bruster’s ice cream for a double dip of cheesecake and cookie dough. Not as good as Baskin Robbins.

Ceil cooked a pork chop stir fry over rice for Thursday supper.

Today: leftover brisket for lunch. Snickers ice cream bar. For supper Ceil made homemade pizza.

Crazy busy with work. Today I worked from 7:45 am to 9 pm. Need to work more this weekend.

DAVID WELLS  [SABR Bio]  was the last twentieth century pitcher to win both games of a double header, on 17-Jul-1989(1) & 17-Jul-1989(2) He once surrendered home runs to both Ripken brothers in the same inning, on 15-Sep-1990. He would be their teammate in 1996. Wells earned the pitching victory in Joe Torre’s 1,000th managerial win, on 30-Apr-1997 In Seattle. Torre would win 1,326 more. He was on the mound the first time in MLB history every opponent had an 0 for 3 day since a similar perfect game in 1880. Wells’ perfect game on 17-May-1998 was the first with no documented substitutions. The first perfect game ever recorded was by Lee Richmond 12-Jun-1880. He also only faced only nine discrete batters.
