Logos

Logos are everywhere. It's fun to wear a garment with a team logo on it, except maybe to church. I'm trying to cut down on the different logos I'll wear, though it seems like a lot. Teams: Braves, Stripers, Grizzlies, Hawks, Falcons, UGA, GT, Clemson, Flames. Augusta Greenjackets, since they're a Braves affiliate. I love the Grizzlies colors. High schools: Denmark, Lanier, Central, Grady. Maybe Walton, Pope, or Lassiter. Matthew says Atlanta Thrashers gear is hot these days. Not many other teams. No Atlanta United. Brands: Under Armour, adidas, Columbia, Puma. FootJoy. Hard to get away from the Nike. Trying to stay away from Russell and Starter. Champion seems to be cool with the kids these days.

Bought a nice grey adidas logo dri-fit casual shirt with the Denmark High logo on it. The Forsyth County school is named after Dr. Leila Denmark, the legendary woman who practiced pediatrics past her 100th birthday. Ceil had taken Will to her in his early childhood, when she was still practicing.

The Braves traded a minor league first baseman for Cubs outfielder Joc Peterson, who homered in his first game last night. Love the socks, hate the shorts.

ROBIN YOUNT  [SABR Bio] is the only American League shortstop to lead the majors in hits and total bases in the same season. In 1982 Yount led MLB with 210 hits and 367 TB. He also led in doubles (46), slugging (.578), OPS (.957) and OPS+ (166), all of which led quite naturally to his being voted MVP, one vote shy of unanimous. He also led his team to their 1st pennant. He the only player to twice collect four hits in a World Series game in the same Series. In 1982 Yount had four hits in each of G 1 & G 5. He attended a high school named after the same U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice who gave Willie Mays his name. Born in Danville, Illinois. Family moved to SoCal when he was yet an infant. Attended William Howard Taft HS in Woodland Hills, California. Mays's father (& as a result Mays) was named Willie Howard Mays in deference to the then president.

Denison: despite growing up Baptist and attending a Catholic school, CNN commentator Don Lemon said "Jesus Christ . . . was not perfect when he was here on this earth." Millions of Bible-believing Christians believe otherwise, because we believe the words of the Bible to be true. (see 1 Peter 2:22, 2 Cor. 5:21, and Heb. 4:15). Lemon also said, "I respect people's right to believe in whatever they want to believe in their God, but if you believe in something that hurts another person or does not give someone the same rights and freedoms . . . I think that that's wrong." His words reveal a larger story about our culture: You are welcome to your beliefs in God unless someone disagrees. If anyone considers your beliefs to be hurtful to anyone, they must therefore be hurtful. And if they are hurtful, they must be disallowed. Consequently, the culture seems to be calling out Christians more and more.

How not to sound fake and corny: be real. Know your true motivation. Use your own words, not someone else's.

During the pandemic, baseball missed a golden promotional opportunity: they should've paid Fauci to tell people to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" while washing their hands, instead of "Happy Birthday".
