Augusta National and the Masters might have been quite different had there not been the Great Depression and World War II, and all the original plans for the fledgling club had been able to come to fruition: two 18 hole courses (one for men, one for women), a longer par three course, houses built next to fairways, a museum and swimming pool – and instead of a major tournament one for seniors, and the course in the US Open rotation. Also a different name: Georgia National.
I currently lead my office Final Four pool, though I have no teams in the Final Four. If both Duke and Kansas lose on Saturday then I win. If Kansas wins and Duke loses then Josh wins. If Duke wins and Kansas loses, then Sue wins.
"Who did the computers pick?" the headline read, alongside a photo of a Met. In fact two computers picked the Braves to edge the Mets. The past four years haven't been as close.
Friday night C and I went out to eat. Stopped by Costco near Perimeter Mall first. Costco should change their name to Ten Dollar Tree.
Then we drove south on Ashford Dunwoody past Northside Hospital, then left on Johnson Ferry through Old Brookhaven all the way to Peachtree Industrial in Chamblee, to eat at the Taqueria in the Whole Foods shopping center. By then it was 8 pm. Very crowded.
Up early to play golf. Then 20 west and 285 north to Bolton Road and Bellwood Coffee. Saw Charles Norman. Also Joel and wife Addy. Then 285 to Roswell Road, then north all the way across the river to the St Andrew Catholic Church yard sale. Bought a College Football Hall of Fame qtr zip and a huge duffle bag, all for $3.00.
Took a nap Saturday afternoon. Also laundry and Young Sheldon. Pot stickers for supper. Watched the movie "Words and Pictures", starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche. I liked it, Ceil didn’t.
Sunday School and worship. In Sunday School teacher Dan’s teenage son Samuel brought two buddies. We split into four groups, and the boys added much to the discussion. But when one of the older men mentioned Biden and immigration from Mexico, the teens all looked at each other. Guest preacher Bryant Wright spoke on spiritual warfare. Stir Fry for lunch. Nap. Hit golf balls. Went out for gas and a McDonalds crispy chicken sandwich.
Weights this morning at the YMCA. Busy morning at work. Small group tonight.
Archaeologist claims to find oldest Hebrew text in Israel, including the name of God.
Will Young Sheldon’s upcoming 100th episode include a “series altering” event? Based on the timeline mentioned in The Big Bag Theory, it’s high time for one of two monumental events to take place: Sheldon’s parent’s have martial issues, then Sheldon’s father dies from a heart attack.
Connecting the dots: high school principal Tom Peterson is played by actor Rex Linn, whose current significant other is singer Reba McEntire – who plays Meemaw’s ex-boyfriend’s ex-wife on the show. Got that?

I went to bed early Sunday night. Saw the buzz early this morning. Heard a little talk about it in the office. Around 3 pm the joke hit me. Before posting it on social media, as usual I checked to make sure no one else had came up with the same line. I was at least 15 hours late. Dozens had already posted the same joke.
