Supper tonight at Pizzeria Lucca, on the square in Roswell. They were busy, but the service was incredibly fast.I'm working on a sustainability project. Does Pizzeria Lucca practice good sustainability? Well I'm no expert, but here's what I found: while the plates and pans and silverware are reusable, the glasses are plastic throwaways. The rolls of brown paper towels seem to be as sustainable as anything.
Not sure if the generic brown cardboard pizza boxes are made from recycled materials. They didn't say. Unlike several woke restaurants around town, I saw no separate trash cans for recyclables. For shame.
Pizzeria Lucca is a small, locally owned, single unit operation. They barely survived the pandemic - while we'd ordered takeout a few times over the past two years, this was our first dine-in experience since early 2020. I'm sure they're doing their best just to stay in business. Like many places, help wanted signs were posted. I say we don't boycott. What say you?
Self service ice and water (from a machine made from Ryerson metal). Saves on the need for pitchers I guess.
When I retire I plan on spending an hour in the gym every day, an hour hitting golf balls, working in the yard, and maybe walking/running for an hour. Plus writing you, keeping up with my blog, and entering sweepstakes. Maybe ushering at Braves games. Volunteering. Serving. Plenty to do.
Worked past 6 pm last night. Drove straight home. M cooked a marinated chicken and rice dish, with roasted peppers, onions, and oranges. Should’ve taken a picture. We were having TV problems last night. Plus I was on the phone a bunch to coordinate a shipment for work. Lifted weights this morning, then returned home to work. Plenty to do.
Looking forward to the musical tomorrow, and hanging out. I touched base with Claire. Ceil is committed to helping with some wedding. Mary-Clayton is helping Ceil with the wedding. Will (and Matthew) are working tomorrow. Anna had agreed to babysit Shivonne.
Saturday night I might go see Jay Leno at Cobb Energy Center. He’s the hardest working man in show business. In his 70’s but does shows because he loves it.
Article: Elon Musk admits to having a weakness for Diet Coke. His habits for success: (1) plenty of sleep, (2) showers every day to remove toxins, etc., (3) eats to live, not living to eat, (4) mutes his phone to focus on work, and (5) reads voraciously. Surely a menace to society.
NOLAN RYAN [SABR Bio] had 15 separate seasons of 200 strikeouts. He had nine additional years with 100+ Ks, and one more with 92. He surrendered ten grand slams in his career, four in the NL and six in the AL. The first to Joe Pepitone in 1970 and the final one to Dan Howitt in 1993. Also set the record handing out 2,795 walks in his career. Steve Carlton is second with 962 fewer.
