Rod Carew

I’m reading Rod Carew’s autobiography. Only Ty Cobb won more consecutive batting titles. Didn’t realize he is a Christian. I finished a biography of Mr. Rogers, who was an ordained minister after graduating from a Presbyterian seminary.

Article in Fortune Magazine about companies like Twitter wanting employees to work in the office. Details to follow. Working in the office rather than at home fosters relationships that you just can’t replicate via phone, email, or zoom, no matter what a millennial will tell you. Sure family comes first but working from home when everyone else goes in to the office tells coworkers that you don’t give a flip about them, no matter how much work you do.

My back has been hurting since yesterday’s trip to the gym. No gym this morning. Its not going to get better anytime soon because (1) I’m working a half day in the office, (2) running an errand on the way home, (3) working from home for a few hours, and (4) working in a chair that hurts my back.

Wednesday: left the office around 5:20. The warm car felt good. I need me some heated car seats.

Stopped by Kroger on the way home. Supper recipe was “egg roll in a bowl”. Packaged two bobbleheads that I shipped this morning.

If MLB umpires don’t stop thinking fans are paying to see them, they might get replaced by robots. Case in point: the Madison Bumgarner ejection.

DENISON: the Supreme Court ruled that the city of Boston violated free speech rights when it refused to fly a Christian flag outside City Hall. Boston had approved 284 consecutive applications to fly flags before rejecting Shurtleff's, because he wanted to fly a Christian flag. The Supreme Court overturned lower courts a unanimous 9–0 decision. The decision was written by Justice Stephen Breyer, who was nominated by President Clinton and considered the second-most liberal member of the court. ALSO: prayer is a right that is unthinkable for Christians in many countries around the world.

ANDREW McCUTCHEN   [B-R Bio] turned down a football scholarship to the University of Miami to play pro baseball. He also had an offer from University of Florida to play baseball, but signed with the Pirates when they drafted him 11th overall in 2005. He was voted MVP in 2013. In 2014, he led MLB in OBP (.410) & led the AL in OPS (.952) & OPS+ (166). He proposed to his wife on national television. Proposal on the Ellen TV show.

With all the crud that’s going on in the world and our country it’s hard to wrestle with what is the correct response as a follower of Jesus. To be consistent from one issue to the next. To dig deeper to the root causes and not just skim the surface. To voice an opinion is to offend half the population.

Jewish people eat Chinese food on Christmas Day. On Cinco de Mayo do Mexican people eat Chinese food? Or bagels?
