Friday: C and I took Winnie down to meet Okie at Anna’s house. We picked up takeout from the Cheshire Bridge Taqueria. Had a nice chat with George. Okie wasn’t too interested in little Winnie. Winnie was interested in Okie’s bowl of food. We were leaving Anna’s when the thunderstorm hit. Not a fun drive. Watched a movie called “The 12 Pups of Christmas” but Winnie wasn’t interested. Not as much puppy action in the movie as the title suggested.
Saturday: had an 8 am zoom call with our missionary friends. They had adopted an orphaned dog. Their daughter was playing with an orphan girl, who it pained to talk about her past. The missionary kid looked at the orphan girl and said in her language “Don’t worry. My mom can by your mom.” Another good line we heard: “Treasures are experiences both good and bad”.
Later I cleaned upstairs. C took Winnie to meet the Halls. Later C went shopping. I did the dishes and some laundry. That night we went over to the Earhart’s to eat outside with five other couples. We didn’t really know two of the couples.
Sunday School at JFBC, then we took Winnie downtown to meet Matthew, at his bakery. Smelled great, and the tart I ate tasted great for being gluten free. Then we visited Anna at her store. Winnie was enjoying all the attention. Next we drove past our old house on Hillpine (it’s for sale) on the way to Dekalb Farmers Market. Was after 4 pm by the time we got home. Homemade pizza for supper.
C went for a walk Monday morning. I slept late and watched some TV. Didn’t really do too much all day. Watched a lot of MASH. Leftover pizza for lunch. C grilled out BBQ chicken for supper, with roasted potatoes and tossed salad.
Winnie was tired from her big weekend, but I took her outside to play several times. She was interested in a commotion down the street, so we walked down so she could meet a neighbor (and their dog). When riding in the car Winnie would just try to nap, but she starting to look out the window some. At home she saw a chipmunk dart across the lawn, and showed some interest. She’s really interested in bees. I try to keep her away from them, but yesterday she was out in the hard and stepped on one on purpose. It might’ve stung her, but she didn’t complain too much. Usually she tries to snap at them with her mouth.
She doesn’t pay much attention to the TV, but did watch one commercial with puppies on it. Barney was the only dog I ever saw that could see the TV. Maybe he just memorized the sounds, but it sure seemed like he could see the green yards and bad guys and other dogs. More on that later.
I didn’t see the Acuna called strikeout, but I did see a graph of where each pitch went for that at bat. That last pitch was the closest to the strike zone. Yes he shudda swung. If Acuna makes up his mind to swing at a pitch, he can usually hit it. Contraris seems to be a good “bad ball” hitter.
Tuesday: wanted to leave right at five, but things kept coming up. Got a late order. Had to change the routing on three other orders. Stopped by one gas station full of cars waiting on gas, so I went on to another. Drove through Wendy’s for supper. That took ten minutes. Seemed to hit every red light. Didn’t get home until almost 6:30.
Winnie didn’t care. She was happy to see me. Took her outside three times before Ceil got home. Ran her around to tire her out. One time I was sitting on the floor playing with her. She was on the ottoman, and for the first time she jumped off into my arms. She’s fearless. Now she will jump off the ottoman or couch onto the floor. She isn’t big enough to jump onto the couch – yet.
Watched an episode of The Kominsky Method. Went to bed at 9:30. Wednesday: Ceil took Winnie back down to Anna's. The pup took a nap there, and back home was still worn out.
