Eli's Places

Eli’s Places may be better than Peyton’s show. Episodes include: tubing with Nick Saban, visiting Coach O at LSU, running backs Eric Dickerson and Ricky Williams, Jon Stewart and the first game at Rutgers, Kevin Moen and the trombone player he ran over while scoring the miraculous game-winning touchdown for Cal, against Stanford back in the day. Also Doug Flutie demonstrating dropkicks, returning to Ole Miss with Archie, and more. Good stuff.

Kirby has lost four games to Bama: (1) the Tua national championship game in 2018, (2) the Jalen Hurts SEC Championship game later that same year, (3) last year’s regular season game in Tuscaloosa, and (4) last month’s SEC Championship game. In those four seasons Kirby has only lost five other games.

Wednesday morning on AM680 co-host Brian Finneran was really raining on Stetson’s parade. Sure it was a team effort, and sure QB’s get too much credit, but geez let the kid have his day in the sun. While the other 680 hosts throughout the day are worth the listen (Dimino Cellini Belue Chuck & Matt) the 680 morning show is a train wreck, a constant stream of bad takes. Plus they have five guys on one show. Poor Hutson Mason is the only voice of reason.

Good recap of the UGA win by Lang. I was following the Grizzlies updates on the Warriors game. How far will Memphis go in the playoffs? Ja has to stay heathy. Can’t believe they’re giving out a sweatshirt and sweatpants to the fans. Did you see the commercial that Lang was in?

Been making a habit to catch up on my scrapbook calendar a little every day. I’ll try to keep going every day until I fill up the 2021 calendar. At the same time every day I am adding a few items to my new 2022 calendar. I have plenty of items saved up to put in the calendars, as well as a few old magazines to cut up for more.

On Jeopardy none of the three contestants correctly answered a recent final question: what character name did Ethel Merman and Sarah Jessica Parker share on Broadway? Answer: Merman starred in Annie Get Your Gun, and Parker in Annie.

The Condras are living out just west of Kennesaw mountain. Actually just off the same main road (Hwy 120)  as me – just like 15 miles west.

Several folk getting covid. I’m dialing back the stuff I do. Another office coworker tested positive.

RYAN HOWARD  [B-R Bio] is the only Phillie to win the National League Most Valuable Player Award the very next season after winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award: NL ROY 2005; NL MVP 2006. He broke his own record for longest home run at Citizens Bank Park, with a 505' blast on 27-Jun-2007, surpassing his 496' homer on 23-Apr-2006 With that home run he had accumulated 100 career home runs in fewer games than anyone in MLB history, a record that still stands, in his 325th game, breaking the 385 game record set by Ralph Kiner on 18-Jul-1948(2).
