Life in 1980

Rare photos (to me) from UGA's Sugar Bowl win over Notre Dame for the 1980 national championship. Interesting that the Dawgs wore addidas All-Turfs, a model that hadn't changed in at least five years. The Irish wear already outfitted in Nikes. UGA soon became a Nike school, but Herschel continued to wear adidas. UGA QB Buck Belue rocked Puma

Going to have to compare Andruw to Al Kaline.

Never knew the Polo Grounds were so close to the water. This is the deep centerfield where Willie Mays made his iconic catch off the bat of Willie Mays in the World Series.

Roman Gabriel was playing for the Eagles when gas was being rationed. When he trying to fill up he was asked if he was odd or even, a reference to his license plate. Wearing number five for his new team, Gabriel replied "odd". He got his gas.
