Last night I took C to Christo’s, the Greek restaurant where I’d eaten a grinder before New Year’s. Since I’d seen the calzone I ordered a small grilled chicken pizza, thinking C would eat some. She got a small Greek salad that was huge. The pizza was good, not a huge amount of crust, but perhaps slightly undercooked and doughy. I like my pizza crust crispy so I don’t feel like I’m eating lots of bread. Only ate half the small pizza. This morning I hadn’t gained any weight.
When Marty Watts became a minister of music I wondered if he did the classics, or more new hymns. I’m really not a fan of the music some contemporary services. Seems like the same songs every week. Not a fan of old classic hymn sung to upbeat music, and I doubt the youngsters in the congregation like them either. Might as well sing a new song. Isn’t there a Bible verse about that?
They sing new songs at Passion City Church and North Point, but they may only sing them for like six months before they move on and sing something new. At JFBC contemporary they’ll sing a song first sung at Passion two years ago, then keep singing it at JF for years and years. I think I would worship better in the traditional service, but I can’t get C to go. Maybe I’ll go on my own. John from small group is the only one in our Sunday School class to attend the traditional service.
College. Not for everyone. Nowadays more than ever. M may be better off going to cooking school. For Christmas and birthdays he gets cooking stuff. When he drove L and me to the World Series I tried to keep the conversation on cooking.
I only wear ties at funerals and weddings. But at thrift stores I’m always looking at the tie rack. Looking for a Masters tie. I already have a Braves tie, Falcons tie, Olympics Izzy tie, and two Hawks ties. Need a GT tie and UGA tie. Guess I've mentioned this a time or three.
Left yesterday at 3:30 after fielding a bunch of last minute inquiries. Worked on my phone the whole way to the doctor’s office, and some after I got out. Ceil spent the day with Shivonne.
Rough morning. Had to fix someone's $27 million mistake. Having to review stuff every week that should be a once a month thing. People want me to buy a certain amount every month, then keep turning down my buy requests. So much I do doesn’t have an easy answer – so much is time-consuming research projects. So much I'm doing has nothing to do with my main duties, which I don’t have enough time to do as it is. It’s tough when people lie to me then expect me to be sympathetic to them - forgetting how bad they treated me when I was in the same situation. People won't answer emails, then send a Christmas card like everything’s okay. Thank goodness I don't have many people like this in my life.
Man I am ready to retire. Work is still mostly enjoyable, though the downside does seem to be growing. Enough being around MOST of the people, but maybe not all. Guess I’ll stick it out a little longer. But I tell C the same thing. More time with granddaughter, dog, mother, and friends. I don’t want to just spend all my time on social media. C wants to fix up the house. It will be great if I still have the best years of my life ahead of me. It’s therapeutic to type out things like this.
Pastry focus group wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. Was those cheap fruit pies you get at Kroger that I’ve eaten a million of over the years. Hard to sample eight of those bad boys.
W&MC are headed to Athens tomorrow for the parade, then on to Augusta for a wedding.Things are looking up. Golf tomorrow morning. Gonna be cold, so I’ll break out my new Braves hat and FootJoy winter golf gloves that I got for Christmas. I will be outside in 36 degree weather for an hour. Doubt I’ll be too cold, moving around and bundled up. Wasn’t bad the last time I played.
ADAM DUNN [B-R Bio] was an infielder/outfielder from Texas. Born in Houston. Holds the National League record for the most home runs in any month of his rookie season. Hit twelve in Aug-2001.
