After having to get my car towed to the shop Thursday morning for a new starter, I thought I was in the clear. Not so fast.
Friday at lunch I ran three errands, parking and getting out of the car at each stop. Then I clocked out at 5:13 pm (early for me) and was still one of the last people to leave the office. And my car wouldn't start. Thought it might be the remote key battery. Called Ceil to come get me. Then called the customer service line twice, and then a dealer. Changed out of the hot jeans into shorts and t-shirt. C arrived. We went to Publix for a new battery for the key. Got back but the car still wouldn't start. C called AAA. While waiting for them we went back to Publix. AAA said I needed a new battery. The old one was 4 years old. AAA got the car going. Was almost nine by the time we got home. All this after getting new brakes and the emissions test. And a new starter and transmission problem. And a headlight recall.
Saturday: up early Saturday to golf. Then back home. C drove down to go to the farmer's market at the Carter Center with Anna. Later I took Ceil's car for a wash and emissions test. Watched a good movie after supper: Persuasion, in the Jane Austen genre.
Slept late Sunday then Sunday School, with 25 in attendance. Good lessons from Revelation 2. I'll share the notes when I type them up. Every few years JFBC gathers all their missionaries from around the word in one spot, for a week of rest and refreshment. Perhaps we'll go in 2024.
Then we drove to Vinings for an estate sale. Nice little neighborhood. I dropped C off then stopped by McDonalds for a snack. There was a special on the app for free fries and drink with any purchase. Back home I worked until almost 9 pm cleaning upstairs and laundry, washing and folding load after load after load.
Watched the first two episodes of the ESPN+ Derek Jeter documentary. Very good. As a kid he wanted to grow up to play shortstop for his favorite team – the Yankees. His grandmother lived in New Jersey and was a Yankees fan. She had attended a famous game, perhaps DiMaggio's last game. C even woke from her nap to watch, and stopped the show when she went outside.
M worked late on Friday and even more Sunday. Had Saturday and Monday Tuesday off. Works like Wed-Sun.
Braves took 2 of 3 from the Angels. They've passed 2 million in attendance, and are pushing for a couple more million. With 27 more home games, they'd have to average almost 40,0000 a game to top three million. So far this year the Braves trail only the Dodgers and Cardinals in attendance, and ahead of media darling Yankees and Mets. Just announced: 3rd base coach Ron Washington bobblehead Sept 20th. They should've made his windmilling arm into a fan.
Up early to the gym Monday morning. Ran three miles. For supper Ceil cooked spaghetti and meatballs. Steamed broccoli. M ate with us. On Friday night W&MC are going to Monday Night Garage to see M. Watched an hour long special on UGA's championship season. Then Young Sheldon.
Got to the office this morning to find over 50 emails, after finishing yesterday with less then five. Was on the phone making work calls for half the trip. Traffic was heavy, and the GPS routed me all over the place. Ponce. 285. 85. Oakcliff past where I worked for Mr. Suggs. Peachtree Industrial. For lunch I cashed in a Wendys coupon. AAA came today to install a new battery in my car.
