Machine Gun Molly

Watched the Vince Carter basketball show. Carter interviewed Jerry West, and shot baskets with former Laker. West lives in West Virginia now. Also a segment on women’s 6 on 6 basketball with former star Machine Gun Molly Bolin – remember her?

I have the exact belt as both Peyton and Eli. Cool photo of three generations of Mannings – all wearing polo shirts and kaiki shorts. Lots of chatter about the photo.

BREAKING NEWS: today Arch committed to the Texas Longhorns. Good for him. I love me some Mannings, but I'd hate to see him struggle in Athens, or not beat out one of the many talented QB's in Kirby's stable.

Braves walk it off again last night. I had gone to bed. Saw some highlights this morning. Great that y’all got to see the ending. After this afterrnoon the Braves have won 18 out of 21.

BOBBY COX  [SABR Bio] was the youngest manager to lead the Toronto Blue Jays, from 1982-85, beginning when he was just 40 years old. He obliterated John McGraw’s record for umpire ejections, with 162 (plus three in the postseason) to McGraw’s 121. Cox once hit an inside-the-park home run off Dave McNally, on 05-Aug-1968.

Busy morning. Trying to get stuff done but more keeps coming in. Ran my four miles this morning at the gym, including my fastest mile since I started back. Not trying to set any speed records. My earpods battery was drained so I couldn’t listen to my book, so I was able to concentrate on my running more. Running is much harder than lifting weights. Might play golf tomorrow morning. Also Saturday, and Sunday before church.

The other night I finally started having some thoughts about what to say if/when they honor my 35th work anniversary in early August. Started typing out my speech today.

Worked until almost six last night. Went out, got in my car. Took some time but was finally able to pull out onto southbound Peachtree Industrial. Turned on Spaulding. Crossed Medlock Bridge. Passed Norcross High and Wesleyan Academy. Couldn’t find my phone. I’d left it at work. Had to turn around. At least I hadn’t driven further. Not that I really needed it.

Ceil cooked Mexican: ground beef, rice, tomatoes, cheese, onions, black beans, chips. Watched Jeopardy.

DENISON: a new study indicates that an inability to stand on one leg for ten seconds in later life is linked to nearly double the risk of death from any cause within the next decade. A medical professor explained that one leg standing requires good balance, is "linked to brain function, good muscle strength, and good blood flow," and "likely integrates muscular, vascular, and brain systems." As a result, "it is a global test of future mortality risk."

Getting this for Shivonne.
