Phil Mickelson: Aaron Rodgers?

 

Phil Mickelson missed the cut yesterday at the US Open - hold on, being told that's a photo of Aaron Rodgers.

Bad boy Phil is growing his hair out and not shaving. Middle age crisis? Perhaps Rodgers is doing the same, for similar reasons. Glad I am no longer middle aged. 

Phil is starting to act like Rodgers as well. Or is it the other way around?

MAURY WILLS [SABR Bio] played more games in any major league season than anyone else. Wills played in 165 regular season games in 1962. Wills's Dodgers lost a three game playoff. In one home game toward the end of that season, he stole four bases in one game. He was thrown out on a  fifth attempt, on 07-Sep-1962.

JULIO FRANCO [Wiki Bio] was passed by Vladimir Guerrero as the all-time Dominican hits leader. Franco retired in 2007 with hits; Vlad Sr. passed him in 2011 and ended with 2,590.  Robinson Cano, Adrian Beltre & Albert Pujols have surpassed both. In 2009 he managed the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets. In 2010 he managed the Caribes de Anzoategui in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. He was the manager of the Pericos de Puebla in the Mexican League in 2012. He was player/manager of the Ishikawa Million Stars of Japan's Independent Baseball Challenge League. Franco became a U.S. citizen shortly after winning his only batting title in the majors, in 1991 with a .334 average.

EDDIE PLANK  [SABR Bio] holds the all-time record for most complete games in a career by a left-handed pitcher. He has 410 CG - 16th on the all-time list. No other lefty has 400. His MLB career began in 1901. His World Series record is two wins and five losses, but in four of those losses his teammates failed to score a single run, with scores of 3-0, 1-0, 3‑0, and 1‑0. Plank pitched in four World Series for the Athletics, posting a 1.32 ERA. In his lone season in the Federal League, his record was 21-11. Plank pitched for the St. Louis Terriers in 1915 before returning to the major leagues for two seasons  to finish his career with the St. Louis Browns.

Of course Aaron wouldn't be caught dead in a vest.
