BOB UECKER [SABR Bio] was the first major leaguer to host Saturday Night Live. SNL Season 10: Episode 2, 13-Oct-1984. Billy Martin and Derek Jeter are the other major leaguers who have hosted the show, now in its 47th season. Uecker was the only Milwaukee native to play for the Milwaukee Braves. Born 26-Jan-1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Played for the Braves in 1962- 63. The Braves’ domicile was Milwaukee 1953-65.
Note the finely crafted kids uniforms. George Brett was given credit for popularizing the term “The Mendoza Line” based on the gossamer-light career hitting of Mario Mendoza. Mendoza’s career batting average was .215. Uecker ended his 6-year career with a batting average of exactly .200.
