My fallen friend Mike Gann, who I served with on mission trips. Of coworker Jim Barr, on the phone with a friend in the World Trade Center that morning - until the line went dead.
The line of cars headed to North Point Community Church on Sunday morning, stretching out of the parking lots down North Point Parkway, up Old Milton Parkway, and down the exit ramp from Georgia 400. Heroes like Todd Beamer, leading his fellow passengers in the Lord's Prayer before uttering "Let's roll!"
Has our country forgotten the pain? The war has yet to be won. I post this so I won't forget.
Article: a rookie fighter pilot reflects on her possible suicide mision, had flight 93 not gone down.God is my health if I be sick
God is my strength unfailing quick
God is my strength unfailing quick
God is my all I know no fear
Since God and love and truth are here.
Father unto you I pray
You have guarded me all day
Safe I am when in Your sight
Safely let me sleep tonight
Bless my friends the whole world bless
Help me to learn helpfulness
Keep in ever in Your sight
So to all I say goodnight.
I had part of another line from that prayer in my head. Had to look it up – it came from Father Mulcahy on MASH.
Now I lay me down to sleep
A bag of peanuts at my feet
If I should die before I wake
Give them to my brother Jake.
More and more I’m realizing how much more I need to praise, seek, worship, trust, and thank God.
JOE GARAGIOLA [SABR Bio] was the youngest player in the history of the AA Columbus Red Birds. He played for Columbus at age 17 (& 18). Looking back at his career, he once observed, “It’s not a record, but being traded four times when there are only eight teams in the league tells you something. I thought I was modeling uniforms for the National League!” Known for his quick with and self-deprecating humor, he was frequently on television as a guest and host after his playing days. He did play for four NL teams but was only actually traded twice. A Hall of Fame manager once told him, “When the story is told of all the great catchers… you’ll be there listening.” Source of the quote is reputed to be Casey Stengel. Garagiola is one of just two National League catchers to have four hits in a single World Series game. He went 4-for-5 in G 4 of the 1946 World Series as a rookie. The other catcher was Frank Snyder of New York Giants, who did it in game three of the 1921 Series.
David Jeremiah on the mark of the beast.
Denison: prayer has been demonstrated clinically to lower depression and anxiety and reduce anger and aggression. Studies also show that prayer can foster a sense of connection with God and others and strengthen marriages. Researchers evaluated more than 5,800 foods and their impact on human health. Among their discoveries: eating a single hot dog could cost you thirty-six minutes of life. However, eating a serving of nuts could add twenty-six minutes to your lifespan.
Me: so if all you eat is nuts, you’ll never die.
