Tech thinks they are something, playing the weekend before the season “officially” starts. In fact, there are seven college games on TV this Saturday.
1200 FSU vs GT
0330 McNeese@Tarleton State
0400 Montana State @ New Mexico
0700 N Alabama vs SE Missouri State
0730 Florida A&M @ Norfolk State
0800 SMU @ Nevada
1159 Delaware State @ Hawaii
SMU will be wearing head to toe white on the road at Nevada. I bet at least three other squads will be wearing head to toe white – including either FSU or GT. BREAKING: looks like GT will be wearing these white lids. Bet you won't be able to see the logo on TV.
Looking forward to watching GT head coach Brent Key on ESPN College GameDay. Prediction: next Monday GT QB Haynes King will be leading the nation in Total QB Rating.
Fully half of all NFL teams now have a white helmet. You can bet they will all wear the trendy head to toe “icy white” uniforms several times this season. Cardinals Dolphins Patriots Vikings Bills Packers Titans Broncos Cowboys Jets Bengals Browns Colts Jaguars Buccaneers Chargers. That leaves the Lions Rams Falcons Saints Panthers Giants 49ers Seahawks Chiefs Texans Redskins Bears Raiders Eagles Steelers Ravens. Of those teams, only the Eagles and Rams should add white helmets.
Wednesday: left work at 510 and thought I was headed downtown. Called Ceil as usual. She hadn’t picked up Winnie from our house, so I had to reroute to East Cobb and get her. Stopped by Wendys for a chicken sandwich and junior bacon cheeseburger. At home I walked Winnie and threw on some shorts. Then on the drive downtown I realized I’d forgotten my belt.
The girls were finishing supper when I arrived. Got them to bed and collapsed on the couch. All this extra interstate driving is wearing me out. Slept on the couch, then went to bed at 10 pm.
Left downtown just after 6 am this morning. Got a call while I was merging from I-20 to the downtown connector, and was working emergencies ever since. Cashed in two birthday deals for lunch: Pizza Hut cinnamon breadsticks and a Taco Bell Mtn Dew Blast to wash them down. Let my Culvers ice cream sundae deal expire on me.
JOE DiMAGGIO [SABR Bio] trails only Yogi Berra in the number of World Series rings won. Yogi’s ten may never be matched, but DiMaggio had nine, two more than the 5-way tie for 3rd place. Joe was on the winning WS team in 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941, 1947, 1949, 1950 & 1951. He played in every game of all nine. Joe was the first rookie to hit two home runs in an inning, on 24-Jun-1936, 5in the 5th inning off Chicago White Sox pitcher Ray Phelps, then Red Evans. His second cycle came a decade after the first one, on 09-Jul-1937 and 20-May-1948.
