Schlabach on Arch Manning:
As I predicted, JT Daniels could return for his senior season. Ben: the weekly spin-the-wheel on whether he's going to play or not has to raise questions in the minds of NFL GMs. I certainly wouldn't mind it!
#23 Pitt at Clemson at 330 tomorrow.

Dodgers@Braves at 5 or 8, depending on the outcome of tonight’s Houston/Boston game.NLCS: teams with $237MM payrolls usually win more games and beat teams with $107MM payrolls. The Braves are playing with house money, and have done well to still be up 3-2 coming back to Atlanta, with two of their best pitchers lined up for games 6 and 7. I still won’t be surprised if the heavily-favored Dodgers advance.
Just saying that for years the national media has shamed Atlanta for not selling out playoff games, but say nothing when a do or die NLCS game starts in a half empty Dodger Stadium. But that’s S.O.P. in LA. Link to video of the empty seats:

Nice to hear Francoeur speak out more last night. Up 3-1 the announcers had no choice than to recognize the Braves performance. Until LA started scoring runs. When Darling said it looked good for the Dodgers in games 6 and 7, Francoeur cut him off.
Caught a glimpse of former Braves/Hawks/Thrashers GM Stan Kasten in the crowd. Now he’s part owner of the Dodgers.
Yesterday afternoon I started feeling poorly. Aches all over my body. Had a restful evening watching the game. C cooked meatloaf, lumpy mashed potatoes, and tossed salad.
My annual checkup went well. The lady drawing my blood said I must be well hydrated, as she had no trouble filling four vials. I have been drinking a lot of koolade lately. We had a food truck cater lunch today at work. Very good. Several choices: tacos, bowls, or nachos. I had Korean BBQ pork nachos and a churro.Got some leftover Dreamland BBQ to take home for tomorrow.
More Saturday AM golf plus some housework and laundry.
Sunday night we’re going out to eat with another couple.
If women have the right to choose whether they get an abortion, shouldn’t they be able to decide whether or not to take the vaccine?

The Tribulation: How it Can Happen. A good article by my Twitter friend Elizabeth:
Anti-aging foods: berries, avocados (bleh). Papaya (bleh), walnuts, green tea, red wine, sweet potato, vegetables, extra virgin olive oil, pomegranate, spices like cinnamon, bone broth.
RICHIE ASHBURN [SABR Bio] had more hits than any other major leaguer in the decade 1950-59, with 1,875 hits that decade. He was a starter on the All-Star team in his rookie season. Voted to the 1948 NL AS team, starting in centerfield. Had two hits and a stolen bases, and scored a run. However, his squad lost to the AL All-Stars headlined by DiMaggio, Williams, Newhouser, Raschi, et al. Ashburn chose to retire after the year when Rogers Hornsby was his team’s hitting coach. After being left unprotected by the Cubs for the NL’s expansion draft, Ashburn spent a miserable year playing for the execrable 1962 NYM. It was Hornsby’s final year in a major league uniform. Ashburn is the only Hall of Famer known to have a twin. They were born Don and Donna Ashburn, but the family used the boy’s middle name, Richie, to help further distinguish him from his sister.
Denison: Facebook is changing its company name to focus on building the "metaverse." The term was coined by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 novel Snow Crash, where it referred to a 3D world inhabited by avatars of real people. BBC reports the metaverse "could be to virtual reality what the smartphone is to the first clunky mobile phones of the 1980s. Instead of being on a computer, in the metaverse you might use a headset to enter a virtual world connecting all sorts of digital environments. This virtual world could be used for practically anything—work, play, concerts, cinema trips—or just hanging out." In a new poll, nearly 2/3 of Americans who use social media believe life was better without them. The first time God ever said something was "not good," he said: "It is not good that the man should be alone" (Genesis 2:18).
Oscar Thompson's Concentric Circles of Concern: From Self to Others Through Life-Style Evangelism is a classic in the field. Dr. Thompson identifies seven relational "circles" in our lives: self, family, relatives, friends, neighbors-associates, acquaintances, and "Person X" whom we've not yet met. He notes: "The key to a fulfilled life is relationships. Things do not satisfy; relationships do." When "you do get things right in your own life with God," he writes, "he will begin to engineer humanly impossible circumstances to bring more people into your concentric circles to have their needs met." As a result, "You become fulfilled as you see the fruit of God's Spirit impacting the lives of those around you." The people in your spheres of influence "are there for you to love and meet their needs. Your mission is not out there somewhere in the future; it is now."
