Blasting Tebow?

Nice article on CJ Stroud, by writer Bobby Burack from the great state of Michigan. Not sure how old the author is, but for the most part he seems to have a good viewpoint on a wide variety of topics.

BUT Burack describes Tim Tebow as “more of a star personality than a star athlete”. Perhaps Burack was too young to remember Tebow’s days at Florida.  Was a key part of two national championship teams and almost won a third. Won one Heisman Trophy and almost won another. Often willed his team to victory. Perhaps not the most polished of QBs, but most definitely a star athlete – so much so that Tebow is considered with Herschel Walker as one of the greatest football players in college football history. Tebow led the Denver Broncos deep into the NFL playoffs. Perhaps Tebow wasn’t the greatest minor league baseball player ever, but he did as well as Michael Jordan, for a longer stretch. Ninety-nine percent of college football players would fare far worse at professional baseball.

MAX SCHERZER [B-R Bio] had the highest MLB salary in 2023. His pay, between the Mets and Texas was $43,333,333.33, one third of his 3-year contract. His 2023 salary was a scant 33¢ more than former teammate Justin Verlander, whose 2-year contract called for exactly $43,333,333.00 in compensation for 2023.  Scherzer had pitched for the University of Missouri Tigers and from 2010 to 2014 for the Detroit Tigers. For seven straight seasons, he finished in the top five Cy Young Award vote getters. From 2013-2019 he finished 1st, 5th, 5th, 1st, 1st, 2nd & 3rd. His wife once threw out the jersey he had worn while pitching a no-hitter. The jersey looked like a dirty, ripped rag to her, but he rescued it and wore it while pitching his 2nd no-hitter on 20-Jun-2015.

Man I would hate to see the good old SPdL FLC go downhill. I remember when it opened, in 1990. Paul McNeil handed me a little card saying I was a lifetime member, with his signature on it. If I went in there today and flashed that card, they would probably laugh at me.

A little similar to our new computer system (the SAP), which is so complicated. Wants you to do the same thing every time, and that just can’t be done. SAP is not set up all for the complicated way we handle my big customer, or how we make tubing. We didn’t start training until we went live. The people who taught us how to enter the orders don’t know how to update the orders, and vice versa. Yesterday we discovered where all the missing paperwork goes – to a “junk” printer in Chicago!

Was honored today to be quoted by coworker Crazy John, who is a high tech 2.0 version of myself. In a frustrated SAP rant of his own, John took time to credit me for coining the term "the SAP".

Anna’s college pal Phillip married a girl who came down with cancer shortly after their wedding in 2022. She was too sick to come to Anna’s wedding. She just passed away yesterday. Also passing: Jayne Bedingfield's mother, and Doug Stuart's mother. And an NBA assistant coach.

Wednesday: worked past 6:20 pm. C was at small group so I fixed a chicken salad sandwich. Watched Jeopardy, Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire. Also moved my golf clubs into my new bag.

This morning I had lost more weight, down eight pounds since Christmas. Still got a ways to go to meet my goal. I’m just trying to lose a pound a week. Lifted weights at the gym this morning.
