Saturday afternoon I had the MLB Speedway Classic pregame on the TV, but then we went over to our dinner. Turned out we only missed the rain delay. Cool that the Braves were able to win, with rookie Hurston Waltrip getting his first career win. His name sounds like a NASCAR driver.
Loved the Braves caps with the fire on the brim. I might've posted them before, but it was worth it to post them again. Just noticed they're the weird new style without a seam in the front, like the all star game caps. Bleah.
I had a lot of burgers this weekend. Friday night we ate at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar. Pretty good, though they skimped on the fries. Ceil ate her entire chicken sandwich and side salad, plus a couple of my fries.
Saturday for lunch I ate the leftover smash burgers that C had made earlier in the week. Them Saturday night we ate over at the Earharts, and Lee grilled out burgers over there. Plus grilled vegetables, fresh fruit, and Ceil’s potato salad. Then cake and ice cream for dessert.
Sunday after church I had to drive C to Perimeter Mall, so we ate at Moxie Burger on the way home. But we both ordered grilled chicken sandwiches.
Saturday night we ate with the Hall’s and a young couple who used to work at JFBC, but now live in Africa. Jonathan & Emilie. During dinner my other friend Reid mentioned to Jonathan that I used to be a kicker, bringing up how I had once kicked in the Georgia Dome in the 2013 season opening Kickoff Classic. Then Sunday was the JFBC fall kickoff / promotion day in Sunday School. Jonathan was teaching in our class, so he made the lesson about kicking back off our relationship with God. He did a good job – then I realized that he was weaving in my kickoff story into the lesson. Everyone enjoyed it, and asked a lot of questions afterwards.
NEWS: JFBC was finally able to buy the house that sits next to the church. JFBC already owns all the land around it. The day after the church closed on the property, two large unrelated gifts came in that more than paid for the transaction. Now the church will be able to proceed with plans to build a large new worship facility.
In the worship service we sat on the second row, behind Jonathan & Emilie. There was a lady sitting next to me who I didn’t think I knew. During the sermon her phone went off with a Candy Crush like video game. After the service she said hello – it was Cheryl Dowdy, who used to be in the SPdL Singles Department with me and Don Head back in the day.
Besides my boss, my other three office team members are out today: Leo is taking an extra day of vacation, Angie is working from home due to her child’s birthday, and Brad is working from home as well. At least I’ll get to go to lunch at 11:30. Using my birthday deal for a free pizza buffet. I skipped breakfast to get ready for it. CiCis Pizza was just so so, as I expected. Helps me from wanting to go back.
Denison on Gaza: despite the surge of hundreds of trucks into Gaza over the past 4 days, very few supplies have been distributed. Aid shipments are being seized by desperate civilians, lawless gangs, clan-affiliated thugs, and merchants of death. Hamas wants a famine in Gaza. Producing mass death from hunger is Hamas’ final last hope for ending the war in a way that advances its goals. Hamas has benefited from Israel’s decision to use food as a lever because the catastrophic conditions for civilians have generated an international outcry, worsening Israel’s global standing.
